Re: Take a stand

Hope your not involving a beach. I had to change or my shoes would have been SHOT with all my pictures. As it is they were FILTHY!

Thank god for those flip flops. Its a long day in heels. Honestly I changed and kept my wedding shoes by my table so I could change back for all special moments. Thank god, I never would have made it through the father daughter dance if I had stayed in my heels until that point and I had to waltz. I had wedge flip flops so they had height and my BMs had matching ones that matched the dresses and it was ADORABLE!

I danced from beginning of the reception to the end. If I had stayed in heels I would not have. I DON'T REGRET THAT DECISION FOR A MOMENT!

FYI this picture is totally cute, all the girls who posted pics, pictures are, was just making the point that I will not be doing flip flops and wanted to see if anyone else was....since it seemed everyone on this site did the flip flop thing, ladies on their periods need not reply with more grief!

OMG I read more of this... my wedding was black tie and formal and my BP was in flip flops. They put there heels back on after the cocktail hour that was on a dock and had them on for the entrance. After that I really didn't care what they did. I would rather them all be comfortable and have a great time then be uncomfortable and miserable. My wedding was super elegant and super fun. And they were all in long dresses and the flip flops were wedges so honestly you couldn't even tell.

What would you rather have, a BP that looks elegant or a BP that is having a great time dancing? I would rather have my guests take their cue from the BP that is having fun.

Also... my girls were on a boat, so no way I was going to ask them to get on the bow of a boat in heels. AHH!!! I did it barefoot.

Wow, I just wanna say that I did change my shoes at my wedding and I was having too much of a good time at my wedding to notice if any of my guests did, but I did notice in my pictures and I'm GLAD they did because our dance floor was packed all night!! Who cares what anyone is wearing on their feet? There are much more important things to worry about! Jeez!

David Tutera would LOVEE this thread!!! he's sooo against people wearing flip flops to a wedding!

ETA: I don't personally care, actually have never really thought about it before... I personally like heels so I will prob stay in my heels but if people want to wear flip flops I don't care at all, I would rather my guests be comfortable.

I see where the OP is coming from though, on this site there are so many trends and when you aren't following one of them sometimes you feel weird and 'wrong' for not going with the flow!!!! That's LI for ya!!!

This thread makes me I think its totally fine if you dont want to change out of your shoes but to insist that the rest of the people at your wedding don't is pretty ridiculous!!!! If you think you are going to be able to regulate that, you are totally dillusional! You could try but then you'd spend the majority of your reception checking out everyones feet and not having the time of your life!!! Its time to start worrying about things that really matter.

Re: Take a stand

I have size 12 wide feet. Finding shoes is very difficult. Finding nice shoes to wear to my wedding is even more difficult. I have gotten a pair of shoes, which I am not crazy about to begin with, and they are an 11 wide, the largest size that I could find. The fit and ae ok, but after a few hours, I do not know what my feet will feel like. I plan to have flip flops with a 3 inch wedge heel available for the day. I LOVE wearing heels, but the shoe designers of the world just don't think that people with my size feet should have nice, comfortable shoes. Once I find comfortable shoes, I wear them til they die.And even sometimes after. It's personal preference and there are a million reasons why people do not keep heels on or don't wear heels to begin with.

I'm uncomfortable in pants. Especially when dancing. I think I will change to shorts mid-reception.
