no removing or changing of shoes i agree! this is a wedding people! its supposed 2 be classy and elegant
well than put me on the classless list cause i changed shoes,my bp did and so did most of our guests and those flip flopped feet danced all night and had a great time
yup add me & my DH on the list too..DH wore Vans Skate shoes instead of dress shoes. I had flip flops to change into, but was having too much fun to realize my feet were killing me!
To each their own and no one should be judged by what they choose is most comfortable for them (or their DH or guests) on their wedding day.

I'm going to try to put this as delicately as possible. My personal opinion is I do not like the whole flip flop/slipper/barefeet thing. I understand the whole comfort aspect but I do think since its a formal event you should be dressed formal. However, I would never frown upon someone wearing no shoes or flip flops. Nor would I judge that person. But I also didn't have baskets of slippers/flip flops at my wedding to avoid this. All in all do whatever puts a smile on your face.
big fat ITA
and I had my 4' heels the whole night and I never ever worn shoes that high. the only thing I did was to take with me a way lower heel sandals in case I cant dance in those high shoes - but I was so happy I never needed them! also non of my guests changed as far as I can tell, but then again I really wasnt looking at anyone's feet , ewwww! LOL

lemme just say that I was all about not changing out of my wedding shoes. however, after a few hours, I was prancing around barefoot bc my shoes hurt SO BADLY and i didn't have anything to change into. biggest mistake ever!

Re: Take a stand
So I guess I had a classless and non-elegant wedding because my 'bridal footwear' were flip flops! lolol
I got married on the beach with my toes in the sand and then for the rest of the night I had a beautiful pair of satin flip flops on.
Oh the horror!!!
Girls...have a great wedding day and after all is said and done I want you to come back to this thread and all of the other threads that you have expressed worry because something or someone is going to mees up your perfect day and you will soon realize that the day was perfect because you married the love of your life...not because you wore your heels all day long.

Wow, just came back to look at this thread and I'm amazed at the passion that some people have regarding this!
I'm wearing sneakers the entire wedding, I'll be comfortable and I'm EXCITED about it! Different strokes I guess.

This thread makes me I bring my black leather ballerina flats in my purse to every wedding I attend. I usually wear them for the ride home, but if my feet are killing I will....GASP...Wear them for dancing!!!!!!

I wore myheels the entire day as well. As im actually better in heels then in flats. The higher the better. So it didnt bother me at all. None of my BMs changed either. They had their heels on all day/night as well. HOWEVER, some girls cant wear heels so i can understand them changing into flips or a flat of some sort. Whats the big deal anyway?? I mean its their feet. Why should you or anyone else really care. Its not like you even see their feet anyways. I dont get the whole taking a stand thing???

Angela you poor classless girl!
Who the heck cares what kind of shoes you wear? I have seen plenty of women wear heels that are way less classy than others wearing flip flops.
For those of you who insist on those at your wedding wearing heels I feel sorry for you because there is a great chance that most of your guests will spend most of their time sitting at the tables due to discomfort and not wanting to offend the bride.
AND I hope for those of you who are SO concerned with this that you find other things to worry about and actually enjoy your day...since i feel as though people who would let something like this make them unhappy might just have trouble finding happiness anywhere! Even at their wedding!

I guess i just have a more laid back opinion on my foot wear... i dont know anyone that takes that so seriously. If my feet hurt from my shoes im changing them...
if im in the bridal party that means they are my friends and are more than likely wearing flip flops themselves... every bridal party ive been in the bride has purchased flip flops for the bridal party to change into...
ETA: also, changing into flip flops and changing into a tshirt are really very different
Oh I hear you. And I think we are kind of on the same page. If the bride is telling you it's ok, then go for it.
But if your hosts are trying to have a more formal affair, you need to follow their lead and either keep your shoes on or wear a flat or smaller heel that still looks dressy.
I agree with everything you've said black tie guy, hence the point I was trying to make, incase people were wondering, since I did start this thread

well the taking a stand thing is making a joke because a lottt of women on this site have said they will have flip flop baskets etc....no one needs to argue about it i was just asking if theres anyone else who dislikes this trend, you don't have to agree or take it to heart, this is to everyone I'm just answer yourr question.

I kept my shoes on my entire wedding day, but I never take them off at events or anything like that. If shoes are so uncomfortable that I cant dance in them, I probably wouldn't buy them to begin with. I saw some of my bp barefoot in my non-profesh pics and its kind of gross. JMO!
well said!

Ok. I guess your best to stick with different strokes for different folks. When people have different opinons on things there will always be conflicting ones. While it is ok to express that for you it isnt a favorite thing. As i myself did not have a flips basket. Its another to say you are 'taking a stand' as if it is something completely wrong with anothers wedding for having it. Also while Black Tie is corrrect etiquette wise. I feel you set your tone for your wedding & people will see for themselves wether it is appropriate to do such things like change into flips. But honeslty if some-one had changed into flips at my wedding. I doubt i would have had a second to notice or care since i was busy enjoying myself. lol

I wasn't taking a stand in a sense that it is wrong for someone to have at their wedding. I'm sorry your interpretation is so different than mine.... I am taking a stand because it seems to be the norm on this site, with so many girls buying flip flop baskets, and I am choosing to go against the norm!
also just to note, the only people who seemed to be turning a fun discussion to a 'I will kill whoever wears flip flops' one, are the people who are arguing forr flip flops...all everyone else said is its probably best etiquette to keep them on, unless told otherwise and thats what we would prefer. No one really thinks their whole day will be ruined by such a minuscule thing. ---to the people who made such comments.

Calling people tacky, classless idiots is your idea of a fun discussion?
ETA: I realize that YOU specifically didn't, but I those words were thrown around by some of the anti-flip flop crowd. Just saying!

isnt that exactly what I just said....people turned something fun into something nasty?...and all the people who were saying nasty things are the ones who felt they needed to defenddd themselves for wearing flip flops, every person who said nasty things were people saying 'ohhh so your calling us.....****' when NO actually no one said any of that....there you go again, putting words in peoples mouths, exactly the point I was trying to make, the first 2 pages of posts were girls laughing about whether or not they wore flip flops or heels....I can't control the nasty comments everyone else makes.....when somebody says 'i think at a classy event you should keep your shoes on' and the next person jumps to 'I'm classless cause I'm wearing flip flops?'....thats out of my hands.

You also said that it was the people who are pro flip flops. And you're right, you're not responsible, but a fun discussion this is not.
I don't remember seeing anything outright nasty... from either side.
And I didn't put any words in anyone's mouths. I could go back through the threads if you'd like and find exactly where those words were written and who by, but better not to stir the sh!t anymore.

Re: Take a stand
flip flop schmip mop
i'll never trade in the comfort i felt for my whole 12+ hour day and here's proof.
who the f*ck cares if people wear flip flops, slippers, or go barefoot.
i can't wait till after your weddings and someone posts this question and we see how fast your opinion changes.
go spend your $$ on your 'expensive' shoes too...just because they are expensive does NOT make them comfortable
oh wait...my flip flops were $$$$$$....does that make them cooler??
