Will anyone else take a stand with me, and confirm that they WILL NOT be having slippers or flip flops to change into at their wedding? haha, anyone?

....no sneakers or removing of the shoes period either!

im not a heels person so i never had intentions of wearing them lol

i had ballet slippers for the church and changed into blue converse for the reception

for pics everyone had their heels on and thenwhen the reception started we had a flip flop basket

if we had 80 pairs only 10 were left by the end of the night..

i was happy to make people comfy and i will tell u i had several people come up to us and thank us for having it cause their feet hurt and they wanted to dance!!!

we also had someone whos heel broke and she was reallllly thankfu..

to each their own but i think having someone in flip flops, sneakers a t shirt whatever does not make a wedding classy or not..it was something we wanted, went to great use and so glad we did it

I'd actually prefer sneakers over flip flops for some reason. But they gotta be nice sneakers that match what they're wearing lol.

Because people SHOULD follow the lead of their hosts at a party or an event, and the couple/family/bridal party are sort of seen as the hosts.

If it's a formal event and your hosts are dressed a certain way and convey a certain level of decorum, as a guest you should follow suit. I mean, I wouldn't go to a wedding or a dinner party and change into a tshirt because I was hot if my hosts were in a suit/dress.

YOU try dancing in heels all night and then we'll talk

Maybe I just don't care as much about shoes, but isn't it better for people to be up, dancing, and having fun barefoot than to be sitting with their heels on?

dammit.. im jealous of your comeback lol

Me and heels do not work well together. I love shoes. I'd give anything to be able to wear heels but alas it will never be. That being said, I tried to keep my 1 1/2 inch heels on all night but it was either take the damn things off so I can enjoy myself and dance or keep the shoes on and sit on my behind and watch everyone else have fun at my wedding.

Honestly I was too focused on my own wedding and having a great time to notice if anyone else took their shoes off. For all I know, I could have been the only one.

well i planned on staying in my shoes the entire night... but i got a cut (not a blister, a cut!) on my toe from them so the ba had to find an extra pair of flip flops that were left behind from a previous brides flip flip basket for me to wear

This.

And honestly, the LAST thing I was thinking about on my wedding day was other people's feet! I was way too busy having a good time to notice!

I kept my shoes on my entire wedding day, but I never take them off at events or anything like that. If shoes are so uncomfortable that I cant dance in them, I probably wouldn't buy them to begin with. I saw some of my bp barefoot in my non-profesh pics and its kind of gross. JMO!

dh hated the fact that i bought my girls chinese slippers for the wedding. he thinks shiit like that is tacky. oh well. he has no idea what its like to wear heels so i told him to shut it

to make him happy i promised him i would wear my shoes all night.

i took those fcukers off half way into the reception. the only reason why i put them back on is because somebody broke a glass on the dancefloor. btw, he had no idea i took them off. he was to be busy having a good time. i poked him to ask him 'HEY BABE DONT I LOOK SHORTER?' all he did was laugh and kiss me

i try really hard to keep my shoes on during a reception but if you want me on the dancefloor non stop. you gotta cut me some slack and let me wear flip flops or go bearfoot. drunk roz with heels can be dangerous.lol

i agree! when we were kids at bar/bat mitzvahs we used to take off our shoes and put socks on to dance, but weddings you should leave them on!

ITA. I hate feet - I think they're gross. I already told my BP that they must buy shoes that they are comfortable in b/c I don't want to see any of their bare feet. I realize I can't control my guests but at least I can control myself and my BP. It's my only bridezilla-ish request.

You can do whatever you want; it's no skin off my back.

That said, if I am at a formal event, I will treat it as such and be appropriately dressed. If you want to be that person going barefoot when no one else is, or wearing khakis when everyone else is in a dark suit, go ahead.

Again, if the hosts of the party want it to be more informal, then I don't see a problem with it. But if they want it to be more formal, either deal with it or look like an idiot.

I'm going to try to put this as delicately as possible. My personal opinion is I do not like the whole flip flop/slipper/barefeet thing. I understand the whole comfort aspect but I do think since its a formal event you should be dressed formal. However, I would never frown upon someone wearing no shoes or flip flops. Nor would I judge that person. But I also didn't have baskets of slippers/flip flops at my wedding to avoid this. All in all do whatever puts a smile on your face.

What a diplomatic answer!

I feel that sometimes people should be applauded for taking into consideration others' sensitivities.
