Sorry no can do, I'm going to be barefoot and preggies.

Just kidding. I'm getting married on the beach, so heels will not work for anyone! Flippies all the way or bare footed.

i didnt have a slipper basket at our wedding... i only saw 1 person w/o their shoes on. not bad for a wedding with 230 people...

I was surprised that I actually kept my heels on all night. I had slippers to chnage into but I didn't until the very last guest left. But how are you going to control what your guests do? Even with a slipper basket I still had some guests foing barefoot - which is my biggest pet peeve.

and I think that the bridal party and close relatives really set the bar, and I have no prob telling any of them to keeep their shoes on! I don't think anyone else would dare take them off if the bridal party does not?

just curious why you think that people will take their cue from the Bridal Party... ive never paid attention to what the bridal party was wearing on their feet... and like I said... i bring flip flops with me to every wedding... i have problems with my feet and cant wear heels... i think its going to be difficult to regulate that many people...

I kinda agree with the bridal party. I took my shoes off at one wedding I was in and really regret it after seeing the pictures.

Because people SHOULD follow the lead of their hosts at a party or an event, and the couple/family/bridal party are sort of seen as the hosts.

If it's a formal event and your hosts are dressed a certain way and convey a certain level of decorum, as a guest you should follow suit. I mean, I wouldn't go to a wedding or a dinner party and change into a tshirt because I was hot if my hosts were in a suit/dress.

Invitation or convention (i.e. a Saturday night wedding at a country club will probably be more formal than a Sunday afternoon wedding at a beach). Otherwise I would just ask.

In any event, my rule of thumb is that I can always dress down my outift. If you want to bring flip flops and the hosts are down with that, then go for it. If not, then just keep them in your bag.

I guess i just have a more laid back opinion on my foot wear... i dont know anyone that takes that so seriously. If my feet hurt from my shoes im changing them...

if im in the bridal party that means they are my friends and are more than likely wearing flip flops themselves... every bridal party ive been in the bride has purchased flip flops for the bridal party to change into...

ETA: also, changing into flip flops and changing into a tshirt are really very different

I intended to wear shoes the whole time but I ended up going barefoot! I kind of wish I had brought ballet slippers but I tore up the dance floor and had no regrets.

My feet did not show in any photos, the only person who realized I was barefoot was my MOH and that's because I told her!

Oh I hear you. And I think we are kind of on the same page. If the bride is telling you it's ok, then go for it.

But if your hosts are trying to have a more formal affair, you need to follow their lead and either keep your shoes on or wear a flat or smaller heel that still looks dressy.

I agree with you 100% but I gotta ask... who are you?

Re: Take a stand

im not a heels person so i never had intentions of wearing them lol

i had ballet slippers for the church and changed into blue converse for the reception

for pics everyone had their heels on and thenwhen the reception started we had a flip flop basket

if we had 80 pairs only 10 were left by the end of the night..

i was happy to make people comfy and i will tell u i had several people come up to us and thank us for having it cause their feet hurt and they wanted to dance!!!

we also had someone whos heel broke and she was reallllly thankfu..

to each their own but i think having someone in flip flops, sneakers a t shirt whatever does not make a wedding classy or not..it was something we wanted, went to great use and so glad we did it

I am not a shoe or heel person. There is no way I am going to be in pain and ruin the whole day. Why keep them on and get blisters all over my feet? If the shoes hurt off they come. And if my guests dont like it.. Oh well!!

Taking a stand---No Flipflops!
I would hate for flip flops to be in any of my pics

omg me too!

lol personally I hate flip flops in general.

Cause they're tacky for a wedding, right?

bc people have ugly feet and I hate looking at them! lol
