Blended families????

My FH and I both came into the relationship with children and we had 1 of our own together. I wanted to do something to signify the coming together of the 2 families. I really didnt want to light a unity candel because our youngest will be 3 and I have a bad feeling about the fire.

Please tell me the truth about what you think...I thought about my FH saying vows to the children after we say our vows to eachother. This would now mean we would have to write something meaningful but i think we will be ok. we both are terrible with this

I like your idea. Its cute. I have seen it done numerous times on 'Whose Wedding is it Anyway' series.

What about all of you doing the sand ceremony together instead of the unity candle. I saw a family that was coming together do this on the wedding series and it looked so pretty afterward and you can keep that forever as a symbol that you guys made that together as a sign of you all coming together as 1 family.

There was this wedding review from AUG07OFCbride that mentioned a family medallion to incorporate and include children into the ceremony as a way to signify the unity of two families as one. It's a cute medallion on a necklace with two merged circles representing love.

I think this will really make your children feel really special since they will be included in part of the ceremony.

I watch whose wedding is it anyway and i never saw that episode...so funny. The sane thing is a good idea but I can just see my little one thinking it would funny to throw sand at everyone. Thanks for the great ideas everyone. I am going to take a look at that post and see what that other bride did.

I have 2 children from my previous marriage. We did a sand ceremony --- It doesn't matter how many people are involved, everyone can participate. You just need a main jar (for all the sand to be poured into) - and a smaller jars all filled w/ different colored sand for everyone to pour into the larger jar... It definitely represents a meshing and blending of 2 families coming together!!

You can get everything you need at Michaels..
