Re: Blocking rooms at hotels

I have a question on this subject:
I have three options of hotels.

ONE is where the hall recommends and will supply transportation to and from the hall but is far away but near islip airport. Best Western in Hauppague. I have a contract to sign that offers me a 139per night rate w/ the transport.

TWO is a 15 min drive from the hall and is VERY NICE.. hilton in melville. Trying to contact somone about blocking room there this week.

THREE is a 15-20 min drive from the hall and i have never seen. In Massapequa Best Western on Sunrise Hwy. I have to call them also.

My question is do I block rooms in all three hotels and then see as time goes on where all the guests want to stay and then call and release the other unused rooms? I plan on putting the info with the std's which are going out in March. DO i just pick the top two? HELP1

to answer original poster - find out who needs a hotel find a hotel you like get see if there is any availability for a said amount of rooms. I think you have time if you get it together in the next few weeks.

My wedding is in May and I'm just starting to block my rooms. so even with 5 months to go, you'll still be in good shape.

Thanks, I only stayed at the hitlon and it was pricey. It was for the LI beer fest and needless to say it was a waste to spend money on a room I hardly saw. IOI

I took care of it in December for my March wedding...

Re: Blocking rooms at hotels

I blocked mine in September for my wedding this June. FH's whole family is OOT. We went down our list to determine how many OOT guests and we blocked enough rooms. You can always call to see how many rooms are booked and if you need to add more.

We did it right away because there are only 50 rooms in the entire Inn at East Wind. We are adding another block down the road at the Best Western because the entire Inn is booked!!

I would go with the one the hall recommends, for the simple fact that they would provide transportation for your guests. Out of town guests may have no idea how to get to the RH.

I would not block rooms at all three hotels, because some times they would require a deposit, and you would not be able to receive this deposit back. Make sure you know the terms before blocking your rooms.

Re: Blocking rooms at hotels

Bestwestern gave me all the terms in contract and its free - absolutely not liable for any rooms to be booked or do not get booked. SO i am deff. picking them now because of that and free transport.

Still waiting on everyone else to contact me back sent emails nad faxed them-next week i call them in person or arrive there.

Thanks!

double ditto... my mom is looking into it in the next month or so, but mostly because we have a LOT of OOT guests and we're getting married Memorial Day weekend...

I , honestly, would have booked it when u bookef the Hall because summer months sell out in ALOT of places! More-so if ur RH is out east [in Suffolk!]
And you're in the heart of the summer!
I would definitely pick a hotel and book ASAP!
