For my hair, I would like an updo with a flower on the side and the veil tucked underneath the bun. How will it work with the blusher? Will the blusher be a separate peice coming from the top or the same peice folded over?

im not sure - but i think i am going to wear my veil in the same spot - i think i have seen the blusher just folded forward....

I think so too. If it's 2 pieces then you'll see the bun sticking out... and I have jet black hair.
