So one of my BM just told me she wont be in my wedding - she can't afford it.
I have been crying at my desk for a half hour now.

Re: BM Bummer
it's ok, she'll still be there on your wedding day right? is there anyway you can have her still participate and not be a BM? like a reader or honorary bm or something?

I am not having a mass and honestly I am a little pissed at the situation. I mean all she needs to do is buy a dress she would still be coming to my shower and wedding. I just don't get it.

Look on the bright side, at least she told you far enough in advance that you can find someone else... imagine if she decided to tell you only a few months before the wedding.

Re: BM Bummer
Sorry to hear that. Better that she told you now then later on. The economy is tough right now and when you think about it its not only the dress. She would need money for dress, shoes, hair and makeup, shower, bachlorette. Its better that although you are disappointed she told you from now and not closer to your wedding.
ETS: Wait I just realized you are getting married March '10 not '09. ummm she has enough time to save from now until then. But everyone's finances and priorities are different.

Sorry to hear it, but maybe her financial situation may change. She's got time, maybe things will work out.

That stinks. Did you let her know that it's still far away, and that she'll only have to buy the dress?

THe thing is she would still be coming to my shower, b party, and wedding anyway. If she can't afford hair and makeup than she wouldn't have to get them done.

Awww Rita, i'm sooo sorry that stinks. I can't believe that happened but better now than later like the other girls said. Are you guys really close? Maybe talk to her about it and tell her how you feel.

we are close she is practically my sister - she is my sister best friend since childhood. I feel like at this point I don't want to have a talk to her because i don't want to guilt her into being my BM

I am so sorry to hear this. On the positive side, at least shes being honest so early on that you can find a replacement, imagine she waited till right before the wedding

That is a tough situation but maybe she would understand. Maybe let her know how much it would mean to you if she was there by your side, as one of your bridesmaids. And tell her you don't want to make her feel guilty for backing out and it's ultimately up to her to say yes or no but that you really do want her there. If not, maybe she can be a part of the ceremony/reception somehow
