BM dress styles

BM dress styles

What are some good dress styles that are flattering on EVERYONE. I have a big range of girls and I wanted to find something they would all feel comfortable in.

I don't want to do different dresses. I like the look of girls all wearing the same dress.

Pictures would be very helpful too!

Thanks girls!

Dresses that are empire waist tend to be flattering on everyone. Also, A-line is a good fit for everyone. Bill Levkoff and Impressions are good for both of these styles.

These are what my BMs are wearing. It is flattering on all 3 of them. One sister is a size 0 with no boobs, one sister is a size 2 with big boobs and FSIL is a plus size and the dress looks great on all of them!

I actually was ok with them wearing all different dresses but they all tried this one on and wanted it! It's Bari Jay style 319

i recommend a non-satiny material. we are using bill levkoff in tissue taffeta material, so it's not super fitted, and looks good on everyone. look in my album for pics

I agree with non-satin and A-line. Also, usually rouching in the middle works well for most as it holds you in better, and asymmetrical waistlines.

This is the gown I'm leaning towards for my girls (in a different color)....it's Jasmine Belsoie and it's chiffon.

IMO, I would try to stay away from strapless dresses if you have a big range. Some strapless dresses tend to come across as looking 'broad'. (I was a BM with various size girls all in stapless dresses, the pictures made alot of them look broad for some reason) Try Alfred Angelo 6548.

Thats what I'm worried about. I'm getting married in the summer and really want a strapless dress....but 2 of my girls are plus size!

Thanks everyone for the feedback, so far I've been looking at A-line and empire so im on the right track. I just didnt know the material that is best!

i've seen plus size strapless and depending on the neckline, they can look slimming. maybe try chiffon for the summer time?

ETA: are you looking at full or tea length dresses?

Strapless can still work on plus size girls as long as it fits properly. Also, if your plus size girls are uncomfortable with strapless, you can add straps to just about any strapless gown to make them feel more comfortable. My sister has a HUGE chest and wants to add straps. Since she is one of my MOH's, she's more than welcome to. Jasmine designer makes nice thick straps too (for an added cost), not the spaghetti straps.

I think chiffon, flowy dresses are universally flattering. Satin, taffeta and charmeuse seem to me to not 'give' as much and aren't as flattering, JMO.

I definitely agree. I have the same problem with bridesmaids. I think an A-line dress will work great.

A-line...and most importantly, nothing that hits on the hip! If you look in my album, my MOH (sister) is really thin. So her dress hits on her hip and looks amazing. This dress style wouldn't work for my curvier BMs so they are wearing the more traditional a-line style. It looks great on all of them!

J Crew Weddings also has bm dresses-I'm considering a few dresses from their site for my BM's. But they dont carry them in the store-I was told you have to order them and if they dont fit you can exchange them or get a full refund.

A line style and empire waists are the most flattering styles.. I got them from RK Bridal and they were Jordan style dresses.. Alfred Angelo also has some of those too..

these are mine

I picked a Bill Levkoff dress its A line with thin straps and its black. I like his dresses and he has a large selection. I agree with above posts - the A line dresses fit better. My BM's are all different sizes and the dress looked nice on them. I also tried on the dress to see how it would look.

The girls in my bridal party have all different body types. This is the dress they'll be wearing, although two of the girls will be adding sleeves.
