BM dresses - long vs short?

BM dresses - long vs short?

Hi all...I am having a daytime wedding in May. I was looking for a casual feel for the wedding (not long BM dresses), but the girls are getting them made. The material is going to be jersey (which I hope flatters everyone). Anyway, I was going to do right below the knee length but I wasnt sure if it looked too casual in jersey for a bridesmaid. When I called the woman to ask about price, she said it's another $50 per person to make them long...that is a lot to ask of everyone. Everyone kind of agreed it's a lot of money (dresses would then be about $275 pp). They said it's my choice. I don't want people to pay that kind of money though. Here are a few below the knee jersey dresses. Do you think they are super casual looking? Rememeber, it's a Sunday daytime wedding in the vineyards so I dont need a super fancy long gown for everyone. I am wasting so much time stressing over this. My sister, the MOH, will probably spend the money and do a long gown since she wants to look different. This is how it would look in the length I was thinking about:

The attached picture is the jersey in LONG (this is similar to the color I am using)

I prefer short dresses for an afternoon wedding. I think they will look perfect for the time/location.

Since you would like a casual feel to the wedding a short dress would be perfect.

thanks. even though it's jersey? does it matter? I think they will look dressy though b/c one is doing a one shoulder with a ruffle and they are getting dressier dresses made.

Agreed - also given that your wedding is an afternoon wedding I think the short BM dress goes well.

I'm having a Sunday twillight wedding and definitely do short because I am also trying to have a more casual wedding--I think this dress in short will look great!

I agree, I think the top makes it dressy enough, so even though it's JErsey, you have a good balance of dressy and casual.

If it were just a tank dress or halter dress with no embellishment, it might be too causal, but that top is nice.

Honestly I think it is a bit casual to be short in that material..I loove that dress in the pic..But I was wondering why are u getting them made? Isn't more expensive than going with an existing design..I def think 275 is a lot. Did u shop around and just couldn't find something u liked?

yes i shopped around and i dont want to pick a style for everything. it's actually not that much more money ($225 in short) than using an exisiting designer. This includes tax and alterations. A lot of dresses are around $180, so you add in alterations, it's the same price. I have every different body type in my bridal party and want everyone to wear what they want, hence, the making of the dresses (they choose their own pictures and design/style). I actually think it's a good idea since I know most people hate the dresses they are stuck wearing.

I definitely do not think its too casual -- I think that the price seems very reasonable for getting them custom made too!
