BM hair, is it ok to ask......

is it ok to ask all my bm's to wear there hair in an updo. i really like the look of everyone having a nice pulled back hair style, instead of some of the girls with there hair down, or half up or down. just wanted to know if it was acceptabel to ask the girls to have a certain hairstlye. thanks

When my sister got married, she asked us all to wear our hair up. She also preferred the similarity. I don't think it's a big deal.

i think its sorta expected that as a BM if the bride has certain wishes with hair you'll follow them.

i know i prefer that the girls all get their hair done because i want it back.. and if they dont all do it.. there won't be that uniform put together look.

IMO, it depends on whether you're willing to pay for their hair or not. I am not paying for my BM's hair (just my MOH), so I would never ask them to get there hair done. If they want to, it's on them. They will all look beautiful either way.

Well I have one friend that doesnt like her ears, even though they are fine, she NEVER wears her hair up EVER so NO I wouldnt tell her to put her hair up the day of b/c its not fair I'd be making her uncomfortable.

I guess just make sure all your BM's have no problem or self-conscious issues w/ it.......if not, then you're fine to ask.

yea that is a good question I think the girls should all get there hair done but i am not going to ask them to wear it up because some have issues with there hair all swept away from there face.

But i did ask of them to all get there hair professionally done by a stylist and everybody was all for it they said they were gonna do that anyway!

Yeah, I sort of have to agree. I don't think it's totally unreasonable to ask, but if it's something that you require, then I think you should be willing to pay for it.

They are paying for their own hair and I asked them to wear it up. I asked nicely - they accepted nicely. No bridezilla moment. They are my sisters, so they have to comply or my mother will ***** them out. Seriously though, we are all very close, so they would wear their hair however I wanted. It all depends on your relationship with your BP.

of course not. you can ask whatever you want of them. its your day. I told my girls that they can wear there hair however they want as long as they are all similar.

I read in a bridal magazine (of course I can't remember which one now) that you should not ask your BM's to wear their hair a certain way unless you are paying for it and even then it is still considered rude to require them to do something like that. I had planned on suggesting they all wear their hair up but now I dont know

I think its OK, I told my BM that I would like them to wear it all up and they are.

I think that it's common for a lot of brides to ask.

I agree, however, that it should be paid for by the bride if it's a requirement.

I didn't make it a requirement, I just said I'd like for them to have their hair put up- How or where or by whom didn't matter. -
No one had a problem with it.

it's your day. if you want there hair to be up, then they should listen to you, hopefully.

I originally asked them to all wear updo's for the wedding. Well they went along with it but little by little complained that they would really 'prefer' to do down but would do maybe a half up half down. I really felt bad b/c a few commented that they HATED the way they looked with their hair up so since I wasnt paying for it I let them do what they wanted.

I think it is kind of rude...I would never want someone to tell me how to wear my hair...what if you hate to wear your hair up and your friend tells you she wants all the BM's to do it? Of course you would do it, but then maybe you would feel awkward all day, wouldn't feel pretty, etc...

I just don't think that is fair....I would rather have happy, comfortable BM's who are already being sweet enough to stand there for me and participate and pay for everything else being a BM entails (dress, gifts, etc.)

personally, I think it's ok to ask. My SIL asked us to wear it a certain way & I didn't mind. For my wedding I don't care how they were it. I just don't think it matters & I want them to be happy & feel pretty.

I do not think it is ok to ask someone to wear their hair a certain way. Not for nothing, but they are doing this as an honor to you, and they have already shelled out a ton of money for a dress and various other things. I just don't think they should have to be responsible for the brides every desire. JMHO.
