BM's dresses-Extra $ for bigger size?

BM's dresses-Extra $ for bigger size?

Okay so my girls picked out and ordered their BM dresses today.

However, i must have missed this at the time, but i just found out that one of my bm's had to pay an extra $45 dollars because they had to order her a size 22. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That's so wrong on so many levels. If you go to gap, you don't pay extra for getting a size 12 versus a size 2. So why should it be different for these dresses?

I feel horrible. I mean as if it wasn't bad enough that she couldn't fit into any of the dresses the rest of the girls tried on today... but now you're going to penialize her for getting a bigger size? SO WRONG. Oh and did i mention that the dresses for BM's samples were a size 10. One of my BM's is a size 2 in regular clothing and she ordered a 10 for the dress. So i mean... how can you penialize someone for a bigger dress like that, especially when the dresses are all bigger than normal size? It's just not fair and these bridal places should have 2 sizes for each dress. I know it sounds crazy, but it's not fair to those girls who aren't a stick figure.

Ok i'm done complaining. Okay so i'm just curious... has this happened to anyone????

i think thats completely unfair. I used to be one of those bigger girls and if that would have happened i would have walked out and explained it to the bride later. there is no way in hell i would have paid more just because i was bigger. it was bad enough dealing with not being able to wear things that others can wear but then to have to pay extra. helll no

I have about 3 girls that have to pay for a large size, but at least it's just $16, $45 sounds like a lot to me. From what I was told, it's the designers who make small sizes and charge extra for larger sizes.

Oh i'm sure it is the designers... i mean why not squeeze every nickel and dime out of people? But i don't think its right and thats a horrible thing to do to someone. It's a horrible feeling i'm sure!

Yea, 2 of my girls had to pay extra too.

It was $30 at my salon.

I felt bad too.

I know its so mean! The lady from my place told me that if a dress is ordered over a certain size its more money!!!

Its so mean.... but it seems to be that way for all places!

I agree it's not right, especially because the specs used to make BM dresses are so much smaller than the regular specs. So a 12 has to get a 16 BM dress. I know that 2 of my BMs are going to have this problem, but I am not going to say anything to them about it and just have the store charge me.

Plus sized gowns cost more. It stinks. I paid an extra 10% for my gown.

I was told my the saleslady at the bridal shop that the reason behind the weird sizing is so that designers can get more $$$ out of people by forcing more women to be considered 'plus size'. What a bunch of crap!

Having been plus sized myself (a 24) not too long ago, I know this is common practice. It $ucks but I see why they do it. It is extra fabric and extra craftsmanship. Honestly, years ago, the dresses werent even available in the MUCH larger plus sizes and they have to be custom made. Large sizes are much more prevalent now and the market for them has increased. Therefore the manufacturers, would take losses if they didnt accommodate this clientele.

Yep, mine paid an extra $30. It's for the extra fabric needed to make the dress.

That is so wrong. Like they don't mark them up enough in the first place?

one of my BM's was a plus size and didn't pay a penny more at David's Bridal.

I was thinking the same thing. I will tell the store before hand of the 2 girls I think will have to pay extra and have them add it onto my bill.

Yeah if i had known that this was going to happen... i would have done the same thing, without them knowing so that way they wouldn't have to feel like crap!
