Bonehead move of the year - Yanks' Kevin Brown breaks hand!

Original post by DjPiLL

After leaving the game losing in the 6th inning I believe... Kevin Brown returns to the locker room and punches the wall with his non-pitching hand. He ends up breaking it in a few places.

Talk about BONEHEAD move of the year! This team is collapsing as we speak. He was their only decent pitcher and now he will be gone for at least a few weeks.

Boston won again today and the lead is down to 2 1/2 games.

An ugly situation at the Yanks' clubhouse indeed.

Its all a moot point anyways cause the cards will probably win the WS this year anyways. That team is deadly... the perfect combination of offense/defense/pitching.

Right now the Cards are the best bet. True.
They have come out of nowhere.

The Astros got all the hype in March.

As a big Yankee fan I have to say that I am shocked with the responses that some of my fellow yankee fans made. There was no need to point out how awful the Mets are doing. Kevin Brown made a bonehead move-you can't deny that. I am pissed and disgusted by what he did. I hope the Yankees get rid of him in the off season for this move. Who needs one of their top SP doing something like this 5 weeks before playoffs begin and when you got the sox breathing down your necks? I hope Yankee fans boo Brown the next time he pitches. What an a$$hole thing to do.

And as far as the comments about hey at least the Yankees are in the playoffs this year-last I checked our boys are not in the playoffs yet and it's looking dimmer and dimmer for them. Boston is only out by 2 1/2 games. Do I think they are going to take over first place? No, but you can't make the argument as a Yankee fan right now that your team is in the playoffs.

Well i am assuming you are talking aout me since i made the comment....And there is alwasy a good reason to point out how pathetic the Mets are doing...
I agree with Don as far as how the debate goes btw a Met and Yankee fan...BUT, yes the Yankees may have some stupid crap go, yes a ballplayer does numbnut things..

BUT there have been plenty stupid crap that the Mets have done too (but have not mentioned-because of the pack of no bashing!). So i remained quiet until lately i started seeing little digs by the Met fans...

And i did not mean we (Yankees) were definately in the playoffs but we are a hell of a lot closer than the critizing Met fans.. And right now we are in 1st, will it stay that way, i dunno-most likely, but we are in first! It may be looking dinmmer and dimmer but i have faith...now who is the BAD YANKEE FAN?
Jenn524 Posted:

Re: Bonehead move of the year - Yanks' Kevin Brown breaks hand!

are you implying that I am a bad Yankee fan? I would love to hear how I am a bad Yankee fan.

All I was pointing out is that there was really no need to attack the Mets fans for this post. I disagree about there always being a good reason to point out how bad the Mets are doing. That's not the kind of Yankee fan I am. I get no satisfaction about getting on the Mets fans right now. They know their team is having a bad season. If the original post was making fun of the Yankees in general I could see making a nasty response back. But the original post was pointing out how stupid Brown was. I have to agree with that. I do not consider this to be a dig by a Mets fan. It's a story that is being reported.

I'm all for some good bashing of the Mets. But when they are 60-74 I just don't think it's necessary. That's when the Mets fans have a right to make the argument about how Yankee fans responses are always well at least my team has been won a world series lately.

IMO...anyone who posts comments here instead of their Mets/Yankees boards is purposefully going out of their way to slight the Yankees. Just the other day they were bashed...we get the snide comments, the funny quips...So yes when i see another post, IMO making fun of the Yankees (rightfully deseved or not) i go on attack mode...
Because in my opinion i guess i laugh at a Met fan making fun of a Yankee...

bigones
ETA...as a Yankee fan, i could have posted on the NWR, every single loss the Mets have had these past games ' UH OH...Mets lost AGAIN!!!' 'What the hell is worng with those Mets...getting pathetic' (as well as others) but i didn't want to throw salt into open wounds...
So i guess i get pissy seeing post like this!

If you know DJpill then you know it was a dig at us Yankee fans...but also that its just part of the game we all play...No-one was being vndictive or rude, we are just doing what we don..Like Don;s post above pointed out perfectly...it's a pattern....LOL!
I think you took it all the wrong way?

Re: Bonehead move of the year - Yanks' Kevin Brown breaks hand!

I know DJpill and I've seen plenty of his posts and I did not take it as a dig. What I saw were Yankee fans attacking the Mets when I did not feel it was necessary. I saw the arguement of well at least our team is the post season when the Yankees are fighting everyday to keep the Red Sox away. My point was I feel that this is the kind of response that allows Mets fans to say the Yankee fans don't address the issue and instead they point out the faults of other teams. Something that as a Yankee fan and baseball fan I am getting tired of hearing.

RedHead Posted:

Re: Bonehead move of the year - Yanks' Kevin Brown breaks hand!

actually i did address the issue..But here is my question to YOU..
Why are there Yankee and Mets boards????
To post these things on! Not on NWR! So IMO it was a purposeful dig! And if they want to do that...well i will throw my digs in too!
There is a Met and Yankee board for a reason!!!

ETA...why do you think this was posted on the NWR board??? To get attention? Maybe beacuse it wouldn't get much of a reaction on the Met board???? Or even the Yankee board???
Hmmmmmmm...IMO then that was done as a DIG!

I hate to keep up the argument, but really... ask DJ...It was a dig and truthfully, we all took it in stride..the mets guys ..THEY EXPECT US TO REPLY THIS WAY....It's been done for months and no-one at all takes it personally...

I think we all addressed the issue, I say Brown was a RETARD for what he did...

DJpill finally had something to make fun of the Yankees with...WOO HOO...I'm glad they FINALLY got something....

When the Yankess lost 22-0 the other day, funny how a thread on NWR was announcing it...and all us Yank's fans gave them that too...

I think ( again) you are making a big deal out of nothing....

This is FUN to us...lol...Don't make it serious or make it look like anyone did something wrong here...no need for that

You addressed the issue 5 posts later after you responded with did the Mets win today. To me that's not really addressing the issue.

Maybe he didn't post on the Mets/Yanks boards because they are DEAD. How often do people check there? Not nearly as often as the NWR. Does that mean it's a shot at the Yankees? No.

All I'm saying is I didn't take this as a shot. You did. Fine, post your opinions about it. Get your shots in against the Mets. It's a open forum you're allowed to do that. And I'm allowed to be shocked by how people responded to the original post. I felt like it was unnecessary to point out how poorly the Mets are playing. You obviously felt like you needed to.

I can't believe I'm getting attacked for trying to keep some peace around here.

I understand how the boards go. I know there's teasing about the teams and I'm not asking for that to stop. I'm saying I felt it was uncalled for to attack the Mets when I did not feel that this was a shot from DJpill.

And what do you mean you gave them the thread when it was 22-0? This is an open forum. The Yankees sucked the other night. You're not giving them anything. They have every right to post about that. That was a joke of a game and if the Mets were in a playoff run and they lost a game like that I would make fun of them. If you were so ok with good fun teasing then you wouldn't say you gave them a thread about the 22-0 score.

I'm not taking anything wrong here. I'm calling people out on what I feel was uncalled for bashing. I have to ask myself why I'm even wasting my time defending Mets fans. Because this is a waste of time.

Well that is what they are there for...If it is dead maybe because all the recent comments are here!
And you are not being attacked...You attacked me and my comments..

Re: Bonehead move of the year - Yanks' Kevin Brown breaks hand!

When I said I gave them their thread, I was referring to the post I made IN THEIR thread ( about the big loss) that they deserved( mets fans ) to laugh and hoot and holler because they were RIGHT....That means that you probably didnt read that so you dont know this is how we go back and forth...You seemed to have attacked me and Oct2004.bride for this when I truly dont think you know how fun this all is to everyone and no attacking was being done...This was a fun thread, till you took it too seriously...
It you were a MET fan then why would you post something about the Yankess?

Since Im a Yankee fan, it I turned around and posted a thread saying so and so on the Mets did a bone head thing ...Dont you KNOW THAT all the mets fans would come on and post anything they could to stick up for their mets...

Theres not a doubt in my mind that it how it would play out...

Relax...I still for the third time say, you have gotten this thread ALL wrong and made it a lot less fun then it was meant to be...even for the Mets fans..

i've been out all day and I came home and read all that was said since my post last night.

This is the EXACT reason I made a pact with myself not to bash. It's all in good fun, but since everyone, including me, are very passionate about our teams, it always winds up heating up and someone gets offended.

This thread is a perfect example

maybe offended is the wrong word. Some people think DJ was bashing, some don't. Anytime a Met fan says something about the Yanks, even though it has NOTHING to do with the Mets, the Yankee faithful jump all over the Mets.

And then we boil down to salary caps, last-place teams, etc., even though the two teams have had nothing to do with each other since July.

Come on Don....
How would the Mets fans have felt if after each game lately i wrote a post...
'Mets lose AGAIN...what BONEHEADS'
are you telling me that you wouldn't have taken that as a dig...even if it was a fact
don424 Posted:

sure would -- probably wouldn't open it because i'd respond with something i'd regret.

DJ was having a laugh at the Yanks expense and this is what happens when you poke fun at something that someone is very passionate about.

nope, i've ignored all Met bashing threads for some time because I get hot and don't feel like getting banned. If I think it's a slam against the Mets, I don't read it
