We booked our florist today - Pedestals!!!! We are going through Danny there and I cannot tell you how wonderful he is. He has such a wonderful personality and we felt so comfortable with him. He knew precisely what we wanted when we told him and his sample was amazing!!!! At first we had been so set on going through Flowers By Brian but then when we went back to Pedestals he gave us such an awesome price, more flowers (their centerpieces were also much much bigger) plus they threw in other stuff as well. After we saw a sample from both of them there was absolutely no doubt... not only was Pedestals prices cheaper ($25 less for each centerpiece) but their arrangement was prettier and much bigger. Flowers By Brian really disappointed me with their sample. Also we had to deal with another person there who we really didn't like. I am so excited and so happy that we went back to Pedestals a second time. I feel really good about them and I can't beat the prices!!!

where is your wedding? I am glad you had a better experience with them then me, I liked Danny too, but our sample was so bad, he said so himself and told us we should come another day
which centerpiece did you get and how much was it that they were so great? Just curious

I'm so happy for you that you made a decision. I haven't been to Pedestals yet, but today I went to 3 more florists, so I've seen 5 total and am so confused. I'm going to have to make a chart up for prices, pros, cons, look of samples. If I can't decide b/t these 5, then I will keep my appt with pedestals for Weds.
I don't understand why I haven't felt like you and other brides about how wonderful some of the florists they meet are. I haven't really felt like that yet :(. Well, I'll keep trying, or just pick one.

I'm going with Danny from Pedestals too!
He was the first florist we looked at, and every one after did not compare! He had great ideas and the prices were low! We are getting so much more for our $!
CONGRATS!

We got the tall centerpieces with the spiral base and four candle votives on the base. He is using three dozens roses (Flowers By Brian was only putting 2 dozen in it) in fall colors (my date is 10/27) as well as lillies, heather, orchids, ivy, eculalyptus and a few other things. He is charging $100 per centerpiece (Flowers By Brian wanted $125). We loved them. We took pictures and showed our family and they were wowed. He did exactly what we wanted. Funny thing is the first time we went we spoke with someone else and we weren't that thrilled. When we went back we met with Danny and he just seem so excited about it. I hope you find a florist you really like. Maybe you could try them one more time... no harm there. At least he was honest about the sample being bad. What are you looking to do? We went to like 5 other florists too so I can tell you alittle bit about them too if you like (the whole flower thing was driving me crazy... everybody is so different price wise!). Again, good luck!

I booked simply elegant b/c the bad time was already our second time
but I heard they have done beautiful work at pedestals, and I did like Danny a lot, guess I just had a bad experience, i was going to give them another chance but my mom and mom in law to be where fit to be tied!! did you go to simply elegant at all? Sounds like a good price , a great price actually to me, I too got a high centerpiece, no candles, b/c I have a day wedding and 2.5 doz roses, casa lilys, white dendro orchids, baby breath, white stock bear grass and one or two other things, we paid 115 which is also a good price
where is your wedding again? and which other florists did you visit?

--Spitz and Peck: no way, way overpriced
--Cress: reputable, I know my flowers would look good but overpriced
--Flowers by Michele, some things were overpriced but John was nice
--Flowers by Maxine, not sure how reputable, but good price
--Burtons, John gave me a price comparable to others, but made it more of a package and kept saying he'd throw several extras in. He wouldn't give me a breakdown and basically wrote 'any flowers' I want. So, I'm not sure if it's really a deal, or if he made it seem like one.

My wedding is at Fox Hollow in the Garden Terrace Room. We also looked at:
Simply Elegant- We liked it and they had a very nice staff, we just got a better deal at Pedestals and like I said, we really like Danny.
Spitz & Peck - Didn't see anything special about them for the money that they wanted us to spend.
Flowers By Brian - Thought we really liked them when we spoke to the owner there and then were disappointed with the sample. Also their price was a higher for less flowers and the lady we were working with was a little snobby.
James Cress - What a pretty shop he has!... very expensive though... literally TWICE as much as Pedestals and that did not even include everything (not even our dais for two... flowers here were considered an extra... it also didn't include our arch with tulle, lights and flowers nor our flower baskets filled with cone filled petals). TO be fair though I am sure the flowers would have been beautiful. IT's weird though, we go in and talk to this man thinking 'Hmmm... he looks like my grandpa... he won't cheat me', and then we walked about dumbfounded at the price! Oh well. His work is beautiful though if you can afford it. Let me know who you choose and make sure to take a picture of your sample. Also, Danny actually counted all the different flowers that were used and wrote it in the contract, this way we know for sure that we will definitely get the same amount of flowers that we saw in the sample. Good Luck!

I booked for my 07/05/02 wedding with Enchanted Florist in Lindenhurst! (Got an amazing deal and loved the owners!) It's a very small cute shop next to Renates Dress shop. They do great stuff at great prices it was basically the only place that I went too and I loved it.. (wow, what a nice feeling that is!) The number is 631 226 Rose..
Wish you as much luck as I had!!!!!!

we booked simply elegant, believe it or not they were almost 200.00 cheaper than pedestals for the same flowers, they also did a count and wrote it all down, they put the picture in my folder but I saw it. they were very nice and even though I wanted to go back to pedestals, my mom and mom in law to be(who is the flower paying person) wanted simply elegant, I just wanted one more thing OFF my list :) but both I hear are equal to each other per scotto bros

when is the wedding and what does your centerpiece look like? I have the garden terrace room too so I am curious
we went w/ all white roses, but they have some cream in them, 2.5 dozen w/ white dendro orchids, casa lilies, baby breath, white stock, shiny lemon leaf, bear grass and one or two others I forget, but it is on a high silver scroll and looks very romantic and elegant looking

Your flowers sound beautiful!!!! I LOVE CASA LILLIES!!! Our wedding is in late October so we went with all fall colors... 12 black magic, 12 leonidas and 12 confetti roses with burnt orange lillies, heather, these carnberry colored orchids at the base and both seeded and baby blue eucalyptus and ivy hanging down at the base. (We went to Fox Hollow yesterday and noticed that on the walls of the Garden Terrace room they have hanging ivy plants everywhere so that the hanging ivy in our centerpiece is a nice compliment to it). Our bases are the tall spiral ones with four candle votives on the base. I love our room!!!! What are you doing for your bouquet?

thank you
they did do a beautiful job at simply elegant too, like I said I couldnt decide b/w simply or pedestals then we saw pedestals on a bad day, my bouquet goes with my dress
it is a cascade/teardrop with white roses and white dendro baby orchids, very little green, but some and baby breath also a few styfanotis w/ pearl
dont know how to spell that, the room is great, my friend jeannine got married there too, it is very big, they set up two or three bars also, what are you doing for your bouquet?

All black magic roses in a tight clutch with the base completely surrounded with satin to match my dress (soft white satin). My girls are in Rosewood (it's like a mauve pinky brown) by Watters and Watters and we are in the fall so they will have clutches of black magic, classy red and some sort of green backing for theirs. We really wanted to stay with a vibrant color for the Fall and oranges and yellows in the bouquets I don't think would quite blend.
