i have never heard of that either. my FH is not confirmed and we thought we would have run into a problem w/ that but we found out that in a RC church all you need is your bartismal cert. which we do not need til one month prior. i would defin call your church back and question that! good luck!

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

My my is calling the nice priest today. I spoke to the weird one who had a nervous breakdown a few years ago. I realized this morning that he actually said we could use the orginal certificate to get started but he didn't have time to meet with us last night. When my mom called the rectory last night, the receptionist said that the weird priest was on duty but since he had no appts, he had gone to dinner and would most likely not return.

Can't wait for mom to call the good priest today. Pray for me

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

Yeah, I would like the nice priest. I can't believe the weird one blew us off for dinner plans when he was supposed to be on duty!

YAY, mom did it. She went to the rectory and even though she didn't get to see the nice priest because he wasn't in, the weird one put us in the big book. I called Westbury Manor and confirmed and now I can breathe easier. AAhhhh!

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

Yay Julie - my church let us book the date but within the next couple of months needs our baptism certificates - so maybe it depends on the church

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

Yeah, my certificate is on file since it is my parish, but my fi will need to call Poland and get a new one sent. I wonder how long that one will take

It takes A LONG TIME to deal with international things like this - the sooner the better!

itsabouttime-

Just checked my contract and we are paying $50 each for music, photo and video vendors and children under 12 providing the guarantee is met.

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

was the vendor meal price on your contract already or did your BM put it on there? I looked my contract over and it definitely is not on there. I wonder if it depends on your GTY number how much you pay for vendor meals b/c after getting feedback from some of you it seems like everyone is paying different amounts???

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

I was told that if we made our guarantee (100) that vendors are half price. If not, we can use them as full guests to bring the number up. This was not on the contract. It came up while discussing the food. My dad was a club date musician for many years and he has played tons of affairs there. I mentioned how much my dad loved the food, which prompted her to tell me how well the vendors are treated. My dad seconded this. He said he was never made to feel like he was second class. He even recalled an affair where there was no room for the band, so the BM told the guys to go to the restaurant and order something and eat in there. My dad LOVES Westbury Manor. I have already been instructed to chose Rack of Lamb as one of my entrees. Dad loves theirs.

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

As I see it, it is a perfect way to take Mom or Dad out to celebrate and all of the family would be together. I think it is a tribute to your parents by showing them that by their good example you are going to get married and have your own family

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

tracy, thats so funny that you said that about mother's day. i was just sitting here earlier thinking about when mother's day landed next year? wondering if it was the sunday after my wedding? i guess not! i think it'll be a great day for all your family and friends to share with you!

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

We'll probably give all the moms a rose and have a special dance with mothers and sons and/or daughters.

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

itsabouttime - the BM wrote it in on the contract when I asked her. I am getting married on a Saturday night so my guarantee is probably higher for the Manor Room.

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

I was thinking a father's choice dance would be nice. It will all be beautiful

Re: Booked Westbury Manor...

I think ours is either half off or $30 something dollars for vendors. (which is a little less than half off) I can't remember. But we are getting a good price for Mothers day so its not so bad.
