Boston...

Re: Boston...

I'm all for searches... and go ahead and attack me, but profiling too (to a degree). But I won't get into that.

If someone really has nothing to hide, then they should welcome any violation of privacy (searches) if its to keep them safe!!!

and i HATE that they chose new york for the convention. Stop making us a freaking target, more than we already are!!!

oh i know that -- we can't live in fear, but there's a difference between going to the mall and having all the main political figures in one place at one time

it's like they're daring them

I just mean better intelligence and what not. I don't know. If you're that concerned about a big convention like that being a terror threat, then don't have such a big one in a city. Do it in a friggin warehouse in the middle of a field. I know, I know, over-simplified, but I don't think they really care all too much about our safety. Maybe I am just a pessimist in regards to this country and how it's run.

I agree- NYC is already a target. Why have it here? I am just glad that I will not have to come into the city during that time.

i tend to think that (while there are always opportunists out there who could do anything at any time...) any major thing wouldn't happen during such a high profile event...they like to strike when least expected...and they have all the time in the world to wait...

in any case...as interesting as this conversation is, we've steered away from the original controversy, which is: what do you think about searching people's personal belongings and do you see why people would be against this...

If you are going to search my bag at the airport and make me take off my shoes... then by all means, do the same at a convention, a hockey game, a concert. I have no problem with it.

I'd rather be alive and little embarassed and inconvienced by a bag search, than dead because the ***hole in front of me had enough C-4 wired to him to take out the State of Maine.

so true. I seriously do not understand why people think their freedom is being taken away ... it is to keep us safe, not to hinder our freedom ... you can't have freedom when you get blown to bits, you are just dead then I just don't understand the ruling at all (shakes head).

Re: Boston...

Part of the reason why its here is because we have a republical for mayor and a republican for governor.

But anyways... if you don't like random inspections... then don't go anywhere near the convention.
