Hey, Is the Lessing's Bourne mansion in Oakdale the same thing as Lov n' Ovens' Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale? If so, are the caterers' prices comparable? I have been to 2 lovin' oven weddings in NYC and LOVED them. Does Lessings do a nice job too? What do these places cost give or take?

There are two Vanderbilt Mansions, both of which are different from the Bourne Mansion. Only Lessings caters the Bourne. Lovin Oven, Lessings, and maybe one other caterer caters the Vanderbilt Mansion. Then there is also the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport, which I know Stone Caterers serves and perhaps others. But at Centerport I think you can only use a tent. People on the boards have said great things about Lovin Oven.
ETS: Sorry, I was confused on my original post. But I remember being confused about all the caterers and Vanderbilt Mansions, too!

Bourne and Vanderbilt (in Oakdale) are separate mansions. Lessings does the catering for the Vanderbilt in Centerport and the Bourne in Oakdale, while Lovin Oven does the Vanderbilt in Oakdale.

We viewed the Vanderbilt in Centerport, but the reception is held outdoors in the courtyard under a tent. The cobble stone in the courtyard concerned me. I was afraid all the women would catch their heels in it. Otherwise it's gorgeous!!

Also, other mansions on LI include Harrison House (look for a recent review), The Woodlands on Oyster Bay Golf Course, The Nassau County Museum of Art (but affairs are tented), Coindre Hall, and of course, Oheka.

We were going to do a tent wedding in our backyard, but if it rains, your screwed. So we opted for the Bourne.
