Bow Tie or Ties

Bow Tie or Ties

I am on the fence about what to do for the guys. I was definitely dead against bow ties, but now I am considering it because we are doing black tie optional. My FH definitely wants Bow Ties.

What is everyone doing?

We will be doing ties. It just depends on what kind of look yoy want and how formal. I personally prefer ties.

We are doing a black tie but we did ties....Bow ties are nice definitely NOT our thing...to FH it is as outdated as double breasted suites

We're doing regular ties.I almost fell off my chair when FH started talking about bow ties. I had no idea he would even consider that. But I definitely want regular ties (But we are not doing black tie or black tie optional and our wedding is during the day)

Aw.
Let your FH pick.
I've seen both ways- and both can look pretty great!

PS- I used to work at the GC hotel-
you're wedding is going to be amazing!

As them to bring a cart of goodies including champagne up to your PH suite at the end!!

I think we're going with ties, I personally like this look better. I do think bow ties look classic and nice as long as it's a black tux! FH was recently in a wedding and wore a honeydew melon (BRIGHT green) vest and bow tie. It didn't look great.

My FH and I are having this discussion currently also. I don't want tuxes at all, I want dark grey three piece suits with a navy blue tie. He wants tuxes. I do not want there to be matchy matchy vests, so if we do tuxes I would prefer it to be classic black with cummerbund and bow tie. If you do a vest you should do a regular tie.

Joseph A Banks (and some other places too) have charcoal gray tuxes. I think we are going to go with that. I don't like the whole matchy thing either. I think we'll do gray or silver vests and ties that I pick out from a regular store - probably paisley or some other patternt that incorporates the wedding colors

My DH really wanted a bow tie and I preferred long ties, so we did exactly that - HE was the only one who wore a bow tie and the GM's all had long ones with their vests

FH is doing BOW tie with best man and the gm will be wearing ties :)

Re: Bow Tie or Ties

I am constantly around suits.. so I see ties every single day, so FH wants a tux and he was thinking of doing a bow tie for him and ties for the GM... that way he'll stand out. It'll depend on how it looks, but it might just match the wedding perfectly.. so for us, a bow tie might be the way to go.

I did see a bow tie recently in an ad or on tv (forget where) and it looked really nice with a tux.
