I watched this on DVD this week. I highly recommend the movie to everyone. I had to watch it in 2 parts because I got very overwhelmed and had to stop it at one point. It is not an easy film to watch or think about BUT there are A LOT of things that you should think about. It is also really important to watch the feature that has Michael Moore at Denver Univ. where he discusses that it took police 3 hours (and 2 of those hours had NO shots fired) before they entered the school even though the SWAT team wanted to go in, the local Police said NO. And the majority of parents stayed behind the Police lines- those that tried to get past were tackeled by Poilice BUT if the majority of parents had pushed thru they could never have stopped them all. It really discusses how we are a Nation full of fear. But there is hope...question authority, make your own decisions and VOTE.
I just have to comment on the price of gas...it has nothing to do with the war...
do you realize that the price of gas is less than milk...tuna...orange juice...(I could go on and on)
its not the price of gas (look at NJ prices) its the TAXES that your state has put on them...

Re: Bowling for Columbine
I just want to refer you all to an article re: Bowling for Columbine, and Michael Moore's very apt way at portraying 'truth' the way HE sees it. This was far from a documentary. In fact, it wasn't one period!
Misty...I have a great respect for Michael Moore...but I totally agree with you that he edits the film to get his point across...
either way...it is raising awareness and causing a reaction in people!!

Re: Bowling for Columbine
I rented this recently and thought it was an awesome documentary. I didn't care for MM in the past but have a new respect for his drive after seeing this documentary.
I think he's about as American as you can get He doesn't follow the crowd for no reason, but rather questions things that may need to be changed. Those statistics he pointed out on gun violence alone was a wake up call.
The only thing I really disagreed with him on was the Charlton Heston interview in the end - I thought MM was disrespectful (and I have NO respect for CH) to catch the guy off guard and ask those questions with the camera rolling.
But my fave part of the film was the Walmart scene - how fast did they move on that request!!!
you guys really should rent Roger and Me....It is truly about the American people of Flint Michigan and his fight against Chrystler? or GM? I can't remember which one...
I think MM is responding to an epidemic in our country...the abuse of the 2nd amendment...
did anyone hear about the boy shot in San Diego yesterday - by his FATHER...who has been known to be mentally unstable...it was so sad...

Re: Bowling for Columbine
ACCEPTANCE SPEECH Michael Moore: Whoa. On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much.
just remember ALL documentary makers want to get their point across...MM is not alone in this matter...

Re: Bowling for Columbine
There are always 2 sides to every story...sometimes 3! You have to take it with a grain of salt.
For instance, whose to say David Hardy isn't biased, he's the President of the Tucson Rod and Gun Club.
