BP & Tattos

Original post by TheFutureMrsPM

Now that I have a few BM dresses in mind for the girls to go try on and them pick the one I have been thinking about their overall look. Although I have a few concernes on is that I do not want girls to have their tattos out (I am getting married in church, half my family is jews and IMO it looks trashy) is it rude to say we need to pick a dress that covers everyones tats or whoever has a tat sticking out needs to get it covered?

I would appreciate your advice and oppinions, thanks!

First off I have to say I am sorry to anyone who I offended starting this thread, I do not think you are white trash and for those who see my above post I think it has to do with personal choice.

I see a lot of people commented about my families reaction to their tattoos...there are serious religious reason related to history regarding why Jewish people are against tattoos. Although this is only half my families religion the other half respect them a lot.

I would also like to say I am not used to seeing my BPs tattoos bc they always cover them up with what they are wearing but, knowing what the dresses I like are cut like I know they will not be covered.

Wow, I guess I'm a really trashy bride-to-be.

same here lol
i love these tattoo threads.

tattoos are part of who someone is. if you didnt like the tatts perhaps you shouldnt have asked them to be in your BP then.
go ahead and ask them to have them airbrushed but dont be surprised if it turns into a blow out. to be honest i would be a lil offended if someone asked me to do that. if you are used to seeing this person everyday with their tattoo and then all of a sudden in photos the tatt is missing..thats gonna look weird, its not gonna look like what she normally does.
its just a tattoo..its not that big of a deal...in the grand scheme of things it just seems so petty to me to even stress oevr something like this

Oh and one more statement….you mentioned it’s a religious thing. That people of your religion have a thing against tattoos..thats fine and good but if your BM's are not of that religion then why should they abide by those rules? They arent bound by the rules of YOUR relgion. At that point it would be like pressing your religion on them.

My RH wants all tattoos covered. We both have them but he thinks it looks tacky in wedding photos. The make-up is crap though so I'm doing shawls.

if this was going to be such a problem them maybe you should have asked diffrent people to be in the wedding party. You can not ask someone to change. If they wanted to cover them up and asked you if that was ok thats a diffrent story but you can not force someone to cover themselves up because you think it looks trashy.

I totally understand your point of view... But what about your guests?? you wont be able to stop other guests from showing their tattoos...

I know you don’t mean to “offend” anyone but clearly calling someone trashy and referring to their wedding day is a bit much. I know a bunch of girls on here also have tattoos and personally you did offend me. So next time i think its just better to keep these kind of opinions to yourself...

ITA or maybe just watch how you word certain things, b/c it can be taken the wrong way, but at the sametime i understand your point you were trying to get across, I personally wouldnt ask my BM's to cover up their tattoo's b/c if i were them i would take it very personal.

I would talk to your BM's and see how they feel about it. They might not even care if you ask them to cover it. You would know how they would react better then we would.

If there was a chance of my one BM covering it up i might ask her. I know if i did ask her she'd say, 'Hell no i'm not covering it up! You're crazy.' Then I would come back and say, 'yo, you made me freakin wear my hair all up for your wedding and i looked like marge simpson.' We would laugh and in the end she MIGHT do it.

But i realize it's impossible to cover THAT many up lol.

I wouldnt ask my girls to cover their's up bc I have tattoos myself. It wouldnt be right JMO.

i understand where youre coming from, none of my girls have tattoos that will be visible but if they did i would ask they cover them for the ceremony and formal bp pictures, i dont like the way tattoos look in wedding pics it draws a lot of attention to that person
i have nothing against people who have tattoos, i dont think asking someone to ocver up a tattoo for your wedding is anything bad, this is just my opinion dont get all huffy puffy, as long as you do it nicely and not demanding,

i love my girls to death but that doesnt mean i have to like everything they do, so does that mean that if i dont want tattoos in my formal wedding pics then i shouldnt ask them to be my bm? its just about comprimising and understanding

Hmm....

I don't think it is rude per se, you could word it better so as not to make anyone feel bad for having a tattoo.

I have a tat on my shoulder, my lil sis on her back, my older sis on her shoulder...they can do whatever they want. I am covering mine up with makeup, but I don't care what they do.

It's not my call to tell them to cover up their tattoo.
