I went to the dentist last night and she was talking about invisline braces for me. I never seen anybody with them on. She was raving about them and saying how great they work.
Can you tell if someone is wearing them?
Not at all. I've been wearing for about 5 months and there are people at work that do not even know that I wear braces and they see me every day.
I am actually picking them up this week. I only have 5 months til the wedding, but my orthodontist said that there would be a significant difference even in just 5 months and I don't even have to take them on my honeymoon. Do you notice a difference yet?? I'm worried that it's not going to do anything in just 5 months.

I already see the difference. The movement is gradual, inch by inch they said but you can definitely notice it. And to answer the post of someone who told her she needed to wear the regular ones, you should get a second opinion with an Invisalign Orthodontist. You might be able just to use Invisalign. And the Orthondontist that I see got married recently so she completely understands where we come from when we start explaining everything.

One of my front teeth started shifting a little bit. I went for Invisalign and I'm so glad I did. I am not sure if it is because I just went at the right time and when things just started but I really like that. I feel bad for all those patients who have to wear regular braces. I have experienced no pain except when you change the aligners the first few days...not necessarily pain in my case but just that teeth are more sensitive. And they are so convenient....you just have to take out to eat or drink any color liquids....I think it's one of the greatest inventions ever...And it's never too late. My treatment was only 6 to 9 months maybe because I went at the right time and cheaper because of that. I paid $5000 dollars for the treatment. Not a good expense when you are planning a wedding. I go to a great orthondist and she has an office in the city and in Woodbury. They are very professional, clean, and very updated with their equipment. FM me if you want her information.
I know who you are talking about!!! She was soooo nice, and her office so clean an updated, technology wise... I went for a consultation, and I was quoted around $5000, and I thought ok, and I would just pay it off, over the year and a couple of months that I needed them. BUT She wanted more than half as a down payment, b/c she has gotten screwed in the past by patients, and I couldn't afford $3000 right now.. But if someone was going to go to her she was great!!!!

Re: BRACES
Is there a dentist that anyone knows who does Invisalign, that doesn't require more than half as a deposit??? The doctor that I had seen, said people move and stop making payments. I work in a job, that I retire in 20 years, so, I'm not leaving NY for the next 15 years!!!!

I paid if I remember correctly $1500 first and then second payment was $1000 and every time I had an appt and went I paid $500 . I'm not sure if it might be the same.

I wonder if they are covered under dental insurance?
Check with your dental insurance. I know with mine they covered a portion of what the braces would cost and it didnt matter if it were the metal or the invisalign. If you can afford to pay the extra amount then definitely go for them.
Oh and to who ever it was wondering about whether or not you can tell the diff within five months, the answer is YES!!! I was told with regular ones it would take about 2 yrs and my treatment with invisalign was only 10 months, therefore by the 5th month it was a significant change.

Re: BRACES
you should look into porcelain veneers also. My sister’s new man is a cosmetic dentist. He knocked out my 4 front teeth and put in beautiful white ones and gave me a bleaching kit also. I had to pay him but it was a big discount. Before this I was so self-conscious about my teeth because they had started to shift also in the last couple of years. Don't hesitate to do what will make you more comfortable and secure on your wedding day and every day.

Re: BRACES
I'm late chiming in on this one. I have Invisalign and am on aligner number 23 (top and bottom) as of today.
I have 30 for the top to fix an overjet and 60 for the bottom to close up spaces where two molars were pulled in high school. I do not want implants so I opted to just move all the teeth forward.
I paid $3,000 upfront and I go in every 6 weeks or so to make sure everything is tracking properly. There are no other payments due. The aligners do not hurt at all but as someone mentioned the teeth are a little sensitve for the first 2 or 3 days when you change aligners. My orthodontist is in Manhattan. FM if you want the info.
My good friend had metal braces and said they hurt like hell when tightened.

He's the nicest man, SO patient. Since Invisalign wasn't really an option for me, I opted for a device made by Essex? It's a device that looks exactly like Invisalign, but instead of getting an entirely new device every two weeks, I keep the same one & he simply adjusts that one every visit. I was really pressed for time, the Invisalign would have taken too long to make & get delivered, so this was my only option really (since I didn't want to wear 'braces'). The results were incredibly FAST! He offers payment plans through Capital One. The device I used was actually less expensive that Invisalign. FM me if you want any more info...

I wish I had known about this before. I am finishing my treatment just in time for the wedding. Mine wasn't so bad either since I went on the beginning stages. I've only been wearing invisalign for about 7 months. Is that new treatment painful?

I have experienced none of it. Except with the cost. They are a bit expensive and the price depends on the treatment you need.

My sister did it and was SUPER happy she did. They were painful, but she felt it was totally worth it...

Re: BRACES
I got braces before the wedding! I had the same problem with the bottom teeth shifting due to wisdom teeth (which I had taken out--if yours aren't removed, after braces the teeth will go back). The front two teeth of my bottom had shifted--one was about 2 cm in front of the others, one 1 cm. I was not a candidate for invisalign. I had clear braces for 8 months, and now have a permanent retainer. I am glad I did it for myself, but it was a lot of money and I don't know if anyone else noticed the difference. I went to the head of the orthodontics department at Stony Brook Dental School--he is excellent. FM me if you want his info.
Oh yeah--it was a lot more painful than I remembered it being at 10! Definitely get started now if you are thinking of it, in case it takes longer than you think.
