Re: Brazilian Wax
I know I don't post much, but this thread is so funny. For the record, my gynecolgist says waxing is much better than shaving because he says most razors harbor bacteria which can lead to infections in that area.
I get Brazillianed on a regular basis. I leave a small 'landing strip' in the center. Once I took every bit off, but I felt wierd, like a little girl or something. But everything else goes! And I think it's still painful no matter how many times I go. But you just **** up the pain cause it's so nice when it's done!
Also, for the ladies considering having it done a day or so before the wedding - give it maybe 3 days before. Sometimes, i'm so puffy and red I sit with an ice pack for an hour when I get home! I think it looks perfect 2-3 days after.
Sorry so long and so graphic!
ps My wax is done at the Emerald Door in Huntington

It's $55 @ Bliss. Supposed to help to take Advil 20 mins. before hand, but I always forget.

Re: Brazilian Wax
oooh! A place in Huntington that's good! I'm excited. Who do you use there? Thanks for the info about the puffiness, that's what I realy wanted to know, otherwise I would have gotten it the day before.

Re: Brazilian Wax
This sounds like a conversation I have with the girls at work on a regular basis!! This is so funny! The first time I went for a Brazilian, I didn't know what it meant, so DEFINITELY know what you're walking into! I thought it was a regular bekini wax.... (I know, I'm slow)
Went to Bliss! It was amazing (after I realized what I was doing) It hurt, but not that bad. There is also Bloomie in the city- oh my God- this woman there- Sookie- incredible!! (Except she tries to become your friend and say funny things, that aren't so funny when you have to do them... like she said to me 'Give me your best doggie style'- ok... So, another place that's good and not so painful is Georgio's in Astoria.
I've learned it depends on the type of wax they use. that will determine how fast it grows back and the amount of ingrowns etc...
I'm an ULTRA sensitive skin person, I have to go 3 days before I expect any action afterwards

Re: Brazilian Wax
I had a BW for the first time for our honeymoon. A bride back in September recommended the Emerald Door too. I thought they were great.
I went the Wednesday before our Sat. wedding and had no problems (p.s. my skin is not very sensitive). I kind of cheated though.... I had Emla, which is a numbing cream which took the edge off, so I can't speak to the pain. Emla is by perscription only. I am totally addicted to waxing. I also had my legs done and didn't use the cream, and IMHO the shins (sp?) hurt the worst out of everything! It was great not to have to shave at all while on our honeymoon!

Re: Brazilian Wax
Bliss wax is called lavendar wax. It goes on, then has to harden and then it gets ripped off. At J. Sisters it's different, they put the wax on then, the cloth right on top and it gets ripped off.

Re: Brazilian Wax
When they say everything goes..... EVERYTHING goes.. I guess it's easier (and quicker) from that angle. She asks in the beginning if your a 'virgin' (can we say that) to brazilian....I've never had a better job done than hers though! Bliss didn't hurt as much and lasted longer b/c of the lavendar wax, but WoW!!!!
