Breaking a vendor contract? (kinda long)

Breaking a vendor contract? (kinda long)

So one of my vendor was at the bridal show tonight and I was very very turned off by their service. One guy had the personality of a wet mop. He was just terrible to speak to, I can imagine how he would be the day of the wedding. The my sister and I walked over to their table to ask about an additional quote (mind you the table was totally empty, no one else around) and it took the woman sitting at the table about 2 minutes to look up from her blackberry to say hello. Then she quoted me verbally and I asked her for it in writing and she made a face, wrote it on a folder, handed it to me and went back to her blackberry. How do you run a business like that? Anyway, we met another vendor that does the same thing and they were fantastic! Friendly, accomodating, and very informative. I have an appointment with them on the 13th to get pricing from them.

To make a long story short, if this second vendor has better pricing (which I have a feeling they will) I want to break my contract with my original one. The contract say this one the back:

Cancellation fees are as follows:
-$50.00 deposit non refunded upon any cancellation
-Cancellation 180-90 days prior to booking date: $50.00 + 50% of balance
-Cancellation less than 90 days prior to booking date: $50.00 + 100% of balance

Obviously, we're like 336 days prior to booking date - so do you think I'll only lose the $50? I'm going to have to call them to make sure but I wanted to see what you girls thought.

I would think if you are more than the 180 (and you are) that you would just have to pay the $50.

Good luck in your next meeting!
