Can someone please tell me why every news website I go to has different numbers for the electoral votes? CNN says Bush has 254 and Kerry has 252, which is much closer than the other sites say, and puts Bush below the 270 needed to win....NBC has Bush at 274, and CBS has him at 269...argh!

Forget the news electoral college numbers. Some websites/stations are just more 'cautious' to call a winner.

But if you look at the actual voting numbers... which is the same on every website... Bush has a CLEAR lead in both New Mexico and Ohio which will land him the Presidency.

Kerry did the right thing by conceeding now. I applaud him for this and not pulling a 'Gore'.

And remember.. coneeding the election does not mean he is definitely out. If by some miracle 98% of those provisional Ohio votes come in for Kerry... then he wins the election. But somehow I doubt that is happening.

Just got my breaking news email from cnn.com about this.

This is very classy of Kerry. Regardless of who you support, the concession has to be so tough, I can't even imagine. Hats off to him for a classy move.

CNN has called Nevada and Wisconsin but not Ohio. The other outfits have called Ohio but not the others. It's just a matter of time and, like DJ Pill said, it's caution over 2000. But basically, for those states that are in question, Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico and Iowa will go to Bush and Wisconsin will go to Kerry.
