I think it depends on the vendor. Does it say anything in any of your contracts?

I don't have it with me , I'm at work... but I need to do it... I have other things contracted with them, so in essence it's only part that I need to let go.

I think it depends on what's in your contract. I've cancelled a vendor and lost my deposit. If your deposit isn't too much than it might not be a big deal for you. If you have other things with them, maybe there is something in your contract that allows you to just apply your deposit to another service you have contracted with them.
