breakouts

Ok, I am a fanatic when it comes to taking care of my skin. I have been working out extremely hard lately, and I have noticed my back is breaking out more than usual. I am so upset because I can't imagine having this the day of my wedding. I go for regular facials, but I am considering BACK facials. Has anyone had experience with this? Do they work? Help, I can't stand it.....

I break out on my back sometimes too.... Yuck! I know how you feel. It's worse after a workout with my sportsbra. I started seeing a derm so I'm taking medication and I use a cream. It's been working for me. They also sell acne body washes you may want to buy.
I'm going to Aruba in a few weeks so I want to get color on my back then may go tanning. I don't break out in the summer on my back only winter probably b/c of sweating and heavy clothes. Who knows.

My back is better in the summer too, I think it is because I am tanner.. I hate this sh**

i just got back from the dermatologist... i get this too... he gave me a prescription for an antibiotic that gets rid of acne.... ask your derm about it...

oh it's a pill so it does everything... i break out on my chest and back.. i've even broken out on my legs -- yuck! so this will get rid of it all (i hope!) it's Solodyn.. i have to take it for 12 weeks..

It could all be from stress--I know I breakout when I'm stressed and around my time of the month.

A dermatologist can give you something like Zoderm, which is a benzoyl peroxide wash you can use on your body or you can also use something like Neutrogena Acne Body Wash. I also found that taking a cleansing pad (like Oxy or Clean and Clear) and swiping your back with it is effective too.

They have proactiv for your body, you might want to check that out. But if you go for facials then just ask the lady who does it for you what you should do

I was going to suggest the same thing. I know different people have had different experiences with Pro-activ, but for me it has worked amazingly. I had been trying all kinds of stuff (prescribed) since I was a teenager and nothing really worked as well. Good luck!

This will work b/c it's an antibiotic. Other creams that have only benzyol peroxide or alcohol are just going to dry the acne, but won't stop the problem. The antibiotic should do the trick. Good luck!

I know it's a dreadful drug, but boy does accutane work! I had to go on it (not for simply cosmetic reasons, but for a more complicated skin condition) 13 years ago. Since then, I almost never get a pimple. And when I do get one, it clears up very quickly. Amazing....

I agree! I was on a very low dose in high school for about two years. My skin was clear for years after I went off it. Many doctors are reluctant to prescribe it now.

well, frankly for good reason.... It has some life-threatening side-effects.... (such as liver failure, and horrible birth defects) so it's definitely not for minor problems like an occassional break-out.

But, 10 years+ after the fact, it sure is nice never getting pimples!!!

I hate taking pills unless I have to. I once found this, may help.

'After leaving the shower, dry yourself and apply a Alpha Hydroxy creme to your back and shoulders focusing on problem areas. This may be the most important thing for the bacne as it promotes new skin growth and eliminates the old skin which is problematic. After about 15 mins, or whenever the aha is dry, apply 5% Benzoyl peroxide cream on your back and shoulders and let dry.
