Breast Feeding?

Breast Feeding?

Is anyone choosing NOT to breast feed? Im on the fence and seriously thinking about NOT doing it.
However I have major allergies and i am allergic to EVERYTHING from fish to peaches... I cant even touch fish or i swell, and someone once told me that if I breast feed the chances of the baby having allergies is lowered..Is that true? Im also alittle scared of the whole leaking situation, is it as bad as I think?

Thanks for any info!

Ask your dr about the allergy questions...as fart as leaking- you will be BF your infant every 2 hours or so..mpore or less... leaking happends when you go TOO long in between feedings...and they have these little pads that you put in your nursing bra that prevent u from staining your clothes

I wasn't going to breastfeed either, but when I read about all the good it does (and it is supposed to keep away most allergies), I decided that I'll give it a try. I don't know if this is even possible, but I'm going to try and alternate between breastfeeding and bottle feeding.

This is a very personal decision but I would say that with so many allergies breast milk would be very good for your baby. Of course, you can also pump and feed in a bottle if you want more flexiablity. They sell breast pads to help with any leaking problems.

Demetra ...

We will definitely be supplementing with bottles at night. I know you can do it, its just a question of getting the timing right as far as introducing the bottle. There's no way I can BF exclusively b/c I'm planning on returning to work after 18 weeks. I'm going to class next week & will let you know how it goes!

When that time comes, no I will not be bf. My boobs are huge as it is, dont need anything that will make them bigger (lol), but seriously I know its natural, but to me it just wouldnt feel right

Believe it or not my daughter was bottle fed first, for the life of me I couldn't get her to 'latch on' in the hospital. (I was there for 5 days) hubby bought me a pump so I pumped for almost 3 weeks and supplemented with formula.

When my boobs finally healed from her improperly latching on, I just tried it again and she just took to it!

A lot of people say if you give them the bottle too soon they won't latch on to the breast..in my case that is not true. I am breastfeeding her all the time and pumping at work.

I thought I would never do it, hmmm the things you do for your child. p.s. I actually LOVE it.

I do not want to BF when the time comes.

I just want to say that Bfding has been the most challenging, frustrating, but yet rewarding thing I have ever done. Even at 3 1/2 months, we're not really having major problems, but it's very demanding. If you wish, give it a try, if not that's fine too.

I have lots of allergies too, and that is why I wanted to bf Lyla. But, I'm worried that she might have allergies too, and I might have to eliminate certain foods from my diet to see if she is really allergic.
