Bridal building
Hey ladies, Does anyone know some of the designers the Bridal Building carries for bridesmaid dresses? I'm looking for watters&watters and Lazaro dresses. Also, do they have headpieces and veils there? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dont know about the bridesmaid building but Here Comes the Bridesmaid (www.bridesmaids.com) carries both those lines. Im going there tommorrow so I can't vouch for the service. They are located on 14th Street between 7&8the Avenues.

Bridal buildings from Bridal Bargains book
They said that the bridal building (both bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses) is 1385 Broadway, and the sister building is 1375 Broadway. Apparantly they are bridal gown manufacturers showrooms & sales offices, some of which are open to the public on Saturdays. They said to watch out for exorbitant alteration fees. They said when you walk into 1385, there will be a sign that will tell you which are open on Saturdays. Some are open all day, some from 9am to 1pm only, and if you call, they deny they are open on the weekends. (How lame? Don't they want to sell their product?) They also recommend The Gown Company (328 E. 9th St, 212-979-9000, www.thegowncompany.com ) 50% - 75% off designer gowns (Vera Wang, Bagdley Mischka, etc.) And they recommend checking out RK Bridal (318 W.39th St, btwn 8th & 9th Ave, 800-929-9512, www.rkbridal.com ), which can offer similar deals to the Bridal Building.

Here Comes the bridemaid - Sonicstef
we went there for a friends wedding and had horrible service. The help was not helpful or informed. They couldn't give us prices for anything and the place was cramped and disorganized. I hope you have better luck than we did.

Bridal Building & RK Bridal
I went to both. The bridal building is hit or miss. By that I mean you dont know who is going to be open on the day you show up. When I went there were a few places that had headpieces. I remember one having a very large selection. I dont think Lazaro is in that building. RK had a large selection and very good prices but they are a no frills kind of place. I believe you may have to find your own source for alterations. If you do go to either plance - make sure its early, both places get crazy on Sat.

What I always wondered and is one of the reason's why I'm getting my dress custom made...is how can you guys tell what dress will look good on you when you're trying it on in the wrong size? And have those Construction huge clips in the back ugh! Also when I went to RK bridal the dresses were so greasy and dirty I was afraid to put them next to my skin - ewww grosses me out just remembering that. Anyway these are just my thoughts. I'm not getting my dress there but two diff. David's Bridal stores I went to one in NJ and the other in LI both had clean dresses to try on in many different sizes. It made decision making much much easier! -A

I went to RK and I didn't really no what I wanted - so the experience was not great there...the salesperson was trying to be helpful to sell and dress...not find a dress for me...I think I did see people there getting alterations and I know they alter BM dresses... As for clips...RK uses the clips and it is not a great way to see the dress...but at the store I did buy my dress from, the woman was skilled at pinning and did a great job (dress was 2 sizes too big) and she would not let me out to show my mom until she had pinned it well..so it depends on where you go.. good luck :)

RK Bridal - good experiences (long)
I went to about 15 bridal salons. I went to all price ranges from David's Bridals to Klienfeld's (which paid for car service from the train to the store- that was fun and put us in a good mood). I went to all of the Manhasset Bridal shops and a few on the South Shore. I didn't see slimy dresses at RK and I saw many brides dancing and crying when they found their dress- that's such a great sight:) I ended up buying my dress from RK Bridal. They have a new location which is huge and nice. I wouldn't reccommend their discount store or the no-frills method. I thought the service was great. I am having custom alterations and the seamstress was so knowledgeable. My mom was a fashion designer so she knows about various materials and how things should fit- so my mom was able to see through some places. RK has been great so far, the prices were within $50 of the prices on Long Island for the same dress and they made me feel like a princess when my dress came in and I tried it on. You get a different dressing room and they are strict about having people remove their shoes so your dress stays perfectly clean. I would try stay away on a Saturday but they will be getting Sunday hours too. I think they have a large selection of designers, prices and sizes. Good luck to everyone and just enjoy the different experiences.Welcome New Vendors
