Bridal Couture of Manhasset
Anyone give these crooks business? I sure hope not.
They had a store out here in Scottsdale, but closed down for reasons i'm unaware of.
BUT to make a VERY long story short:
I ordered my DREAM gown with these people months and months ago; to only find out that it was never ordered by the REAL designer. I ordered my gown, which i was told was Gail Garrison. was it? no. the designer of the gown is Amsale and they haven't received an order from BC since 2007. Now, I was charged $6,000 for a down payment on the gown (plus my veil) , which really only costed ABOUT $3,000. I found all of this out AFTER i found out they had closed their doors and took off.
I was trying on bridesmaid dresses at this nice boutique and the owner of the place was asking me questions about my wedding. She came to the 'dress' question, and asked what it looks like and where i got it. I told her that i had ordered it with Bridal Couture and that i'll be receiving it in January. Her mouth dropped and said 'oh sweety they closed their doors 2 weeks ago. i just had 2 brides come in here panicking'. At that point i was FURIOUS. After i left the store i drove over to BC and sure enough.. their doors were closed. Gowns gone. Not even a note on the door stating whether or not they had moved or a phone number to reach someone on.
The next day i get a phone call from a blocked number... who is it? Jerry. I asked her what happened to the store and she said that they were looking for a more 'upscale' location.. which is BS because it didn't get more upscale then the property they just had. She told me that my dress would be in by january, and that we'll take it to a local seamstress to do fittings. I was so furious with her, and i WISH that i would've known she was calling me, because i would've had some very pleasant things planned out to say to her. The only thing that was running through my mind, was 'who makes my dress' because previously i had ran across the dress on Kleinfeld.com, and the dress was designed by Amsale. So i asked her who the designer was, and she replied 'La Ricci'. Anyone heard of it? didn't think so. right then and there i knew i was screwed.
A few days later i went back to the boutique where i tried on BM dresses, and spoke with the owner because she wanted to hear updates. After i told her what happened, she told me that she was friends with the CEO of Amsale (awesome coincidence) and that she would get her on the phone ASAP to settle the mess. Sure enough, she called her and i ended up speaking with her. Thankfully i had pictures of me in the gown from every angle possible, and sent them over. She called me back the next day saying that it WAS their gown, but that it was discontinued, and that they NEVER gave Bridal Couture permission to carry a sample of that dress in their store. They haven't even received an order from them since 2007. Luckily for me Amsale wants to help me out, which will hurt BC in the long-run.
I called the Manhasset store, and their answering machine is still on that says to 'call back after january 6th to schedule an appointment'. Sure it's only the day after, but i wouldn't put anything past these crooks. It's January and i haven't heard from Jerry, or anything regarding my so-called dress.
Oh... and did i mention that they did the SAME exact thing to another bride with the SAME exact gown? only they charged her $10,000, versus my $6,000.
Seriously, ladies, watch out! And if you're already dealing with these people.. BE CAREFUL! I read some very sad/disturbing reviews from brides both in AZ and NY regarding Bridal Couture.
There's nothing worse then messing with a brides wedding gown; IT'S ON!
