Bridal Couture of Manhasset

Original post by GlamourBride

Anyone give these crooks business? I sure hope not.

They had a store out here in Scottsdale, but closed down for reasons i'm unaware of.

BUT to make a VERY long story short:

I ordered my DREAM gown with these people months and months ago; to only find out that it was never ordered by the REAL designer. I ordered my gown, which i was told was Gail Garrison. was it? no. the designer of the gown is Amsale and they haven't received an order from BC since 2007. Now, I was charged $6,000 for a down payment on the gown (plus my veil) , which really only costed ABOUT $3,000. I found all of this out AFTER i found out they had closed their doors and took off.

I was trying on bridesmaid dresses at this nice boutique and the owner of the place was asking me questions about my wedding. She came to the 'dress' question, and asked what it looks like and where i got it. I told her that i had ordered it with Bridal Couture and that i'll be receiving it in January. Her mouth dropped and said 'oh sweety they closed their doors 2 weeks ago. i just had 2 brides come in here panicking'. At that point i was FURIOUS. After i left the store i drove over to BC and sure enough.. their doors were closed. Gowns gone. Not even a note on the door stating whether or not they had moved or a phone number to reach someone on.

The next day i get a phone call from a blocked number... who is it? Jerry. I asked her what happened to the store and she said that they were looking for a more 'upscale' location.. which is BS because it didn't get more upscale then the property they just had. She told me that my dress would be in by january, and that we'll take it to a local seamstress to do fittings. I was so furious with her, and i WISH that i would've known she was calling me, because i would've had some very pleasant things planned out to say to her. The only thing that was running through my mind, was 'who makes my dress' because previously i had ran across the dress on Kleinfeld.com, and the dress was designed by Amsale. So i asked her who the designer was, and she replied 'La Ricci'. Anyone heard of it? didn't think so. right then and there i knew i was screwed.

A few days later i went back to the boutique where i tried on BM dresses, and spoke with the owner because she wanted to hear updates. After i told her what happened, she told me that she was friends with the CEO of Amsale (awesome coincidence) and that she would get her on the phone ASAP to settle the mess. Sure enough, she called her and i ended up speaking with her. Thankfully i had pictures of me in the gown from every angle possible, and sent them over. She called me back the next day saying that it WAS their gown, but that it was discontinued, and that they NEVER gave Bridal Couture permission to carry a sample of that dress in their store. They haven't even received an order from them since 2007. Luckily for me Amsale wants to help me out, which will hurt BC in the long-run.

I called the Manhasset store, and their answering machine is still on that says to 'call back after january 6th to schedule an appointment'. Sure it's only the day after, but i wouldn't put anything past these crooks. It's January and i haven't heard from Jerry, or anything regarding my so-called dress.

Oh... and did i mention that they did the SAME exact thing to another bride with the SAME exact gown? only they charged her $10,000, versus my $6,000.

Seriously, ladies, watch out! And if you're already dealing with these people.. BE CAREFUL! I read some very sad/disturbing reviews from brides both in AZ and NY regarding Bridal Couture.

There's nothing worse then messing with a brides wedding gown; IT'S ON!

I am so sorry to hear this but I'm glad Amsale wants to help you. My friend ordered a dress from there (thank god it was her second dress) and it was supposed to be in diamond white and it came in, in champagne and they did absolutely nothing for her and made her pay the full price.

OMG My mom ordered her dress from them and she still doesn't have it!!! My wedding is in 2 weeks! I'm freaking out and she's sooo calm. My mom's dress is actually by La Ricci. It was supposed to be here by mid December and when she finally got a hold of someone yesterday they claimed that the dress will be here either Friday or Saturday and they made her an appointment at the seamstresses house for Tuesday!

The story they told my mom was that they were having electrical problems and re-doing all their wiring . . . sounds a little fishy to me

I have a feeling we'll be paying Saks a last minute visit next weekend

Sorry that you have to have this happen so close to you date! I hope everything works out!

OK I couldnt find a pic of the Ines one but I know they had it at BR in Carl Place b/c I tried it on but here is the KP that looks similar.

Beautiful gown!

I was on the Ines di Santo website last night, and they put up all of their spring '09 gowns and i fell in love with 3 of them!

I'm FOR SURE going to Bridal Reflections; they carry di Santo gowns there!

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it!!

This is really interesting! I went there a few months back and really liked a dress that I tried on. However they wouldnt give me the name of the designer (they told me it was from Europe) and only had a style number to give me. I thought that was odd...Well it turns out that I was going to put a deposit on it- but they dont accept credit cards (which I also questioned) So in the end I never made a deposit...which confirms that: Everything happens for a reason!

Wow. I wish I would've done what you did, but I wasn't thinking properly; hence me actually buying their gown.

You're welcome! Try to work with Jacki or Marni (shes the manager) they are both wonderful!!!!
Like I said I tried on almost every Ines DiSanto gown they have and Jacki and Mari were soo great with me. I wound up picking a dress that I loved from when I 1st got engaged... Ines actaully designed it for her daughters wedding.

ok soo yeah I am new the site.. and i found your post.. Today was a day of hell.. I also ordered my dress from Bridal Couture of Manhasset... I called on the 2nd of January & the recording said they were closed due the holiday and they would reopen on the 5th. I called on the 6th and the machine recording said they are closed for renovations til the 12th. Now, I have left 3 messages.. No one has called me back.. I starting getting a little nervous this weekend and I stopped by on Sunday... of course the door was closed and I peaked inside and it just seemed a little bare...and it did not look like they are renovating at all... I called today and the machine said there’s no room to leave a message and hung up on me.. I called Better Business Beau to see if they went out of business.. They said no complaints for this year and according to them they are still in business but I should check with consumer affairs.. I called consumer affairs... they said they are aware of it.. And they are investigating it because I was not the only one calling.... and they would call me back by the end of the week....

ok Seriously... this is so messed up if they did close... and the fact that they aren’t returning calls if they are renovating? come on ....
@ this point I just need to know if i have to go find myself another dress...

Hey, my mom had ordered her dress from there and she was able to leave a message last week. They actually did call her back, and they claimed the same thing that they are doing renovations and will re-open on the 12th. I would keep calling. Fortunately for us her dress was in transit and it did arrive, she just has to go to the seamstresses house for alterations. Good Luck

I am so sorry about this, I had my own dress drama with Kleinfelds, so I know exactly how you feel. Question, did you lose that $6,000 deposit? I must say I ended up at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and had a wonderful experience, I dealt with Kristi, so if you don't find anything in carle place, definitely check massapequa, good luck and keep us posted!!
