Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

I am getting freaked out - I am supposed to go there and leave my BM dresses deposits this weekend! I looked all over with my MOH and we found the exact dress we loved there! The girl who helped up in the BM section wasd the nicest but she even told me NOT to get my bridal dress there b/c they are the nastiest women in that department.

Thanks to Irish Tracey and other brides on this board, I have an appointment with Lillette's in January - thank god!

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

Well you never know. You could have a good experience. you were never able to find your BM gowns any where else? BC have been known to say you won't find it else where and then you do! Do you have a pic or designer name? Maybe I can help. But like I said if you feel comfortable with who you worked with, then there is no telling whether you will have a bad experience or not. I think it's hit or miss with this place. Sorry.

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

The NERVE of this woman! From all of these stories, I have no idea how this place is still in business! As others have already said, definitely complain to the BBB!

When will these people realize that they are in a SERVICE BUSINESS!

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

Wow, what a bunch of nasty people at that place! I went on better business bureau website and found the following on BC:

The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number complaints received by the BBB. The number of complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgement on the validity of complaints filed.

Closed Complaints
Total number of complaints processed by the BBB in last 36 months: 14
Total number of complaints processed by the BBB in last 12 months: 3

Complaints Concerned (Please understand that complaints may concern more than one issue)
Credit/Billing Issues: 8
Delivery Issues: 1
Defective/Damaged Merchandise: 3
Failure to Provide Service: 6
Workmanship/Repair Issues: 1
Selling Practices: 9

Outcome of all complaints
Resolved -- The consumer received a portion of what he was seeking: 2
Administratively Judged Resolved -- The business made an effort to resolve the complaint, but the consumer was not satisfied: 12

Just thought maybe this could be of some help to anyone

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

WOW! They didn't pull that stunt with me and my BM dresses. They didn't even ask me about where I bought them. But cool that the mfg was so helpful....

They did try to get me to buy my veil and headpiece there and when I said I wasn't they made a comment like you will never find one somewhere else to match your dress (the mfg made a veil to go with my dress but I didn't like it and it was elbow length and I wanted cathedral!). They wouldn't help me when I wanted to campare veil color swatches to my dress (luckily I found one sympathetic nice woman who finally told me my answer.) Actually when I went for my fittings and brought my veil threw their teeth they did tell me I made a nice choice.

For those that already have their order placed - I can tell you when it came to everything with my dress and alterations they did not disappoint. They need a whole new attitude change and should start with the manager (I think she's the owners daughter or something like that!).

StayandJOhn - that is a terrible, terrible rating or whatever you want to call it. I have never seen one that bad - not even the Huntington Townhouse!

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

The manager is the owner's daughter - I had my MOH try on BM dresses there and the manager was entertaining a group of 20 people for a Vera Wang flowergirl dress -no joke! I was totally insulted since I was ordering 6 BM dresses and she was harassing my poor salesgirl! THE NERVE!

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

I am definitely going to file a complaint with the BBB and any one else who handles this sort of stuff. I am also going to post this story on every wedding website I can find. I just wanted to make sure I got my gown out of there first and now that I have I am starting the process now.

On another note: july5bride - that was my biggest concern. When I paid the balance on my gown, I asked for a receipt. I was told it is not their policy to give receipts other then the one you get when you first place the order. “The dress is your receipt”, they said. But I had brought the dress back so they could keep it there until my first fitting. So, basically, when I went in this morning, I was afraid they would tell me I didn’t pay and ask for the balance. Luckily, they didn’t give me a hard time. But that practice also seems fishy (demand cash payment for the balance and refuse to give a receipt) and someone suggested I report them to the IRS.

I would definitely report them to the BBB. What an awful way to treat a customer! I am glad you didn't have any trouble picking up your dress.

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

That whole receipt thing is insane too. They want no record of the purchase once it's made so they can easily absolve themselves. It's insane. When I bought my gown I was given a contract, a receipt the size of my head..I had to sign 2 papers and initial the color and size choice! These are major purchases, not that far off from a CAR! Who the hell do they think they are?

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

I am happy it ended well for you, but to believe they are still in business, their attitude seems to be one of they could care less. Its as if they believe they are doing the customer a favor. I think it is good that you came and shared your experience with the ladies here. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. All the best and happy planning

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

The people at this store are just plain EVIL!
I swear I will never step foot in Bridal Couture, out of fear I might actually fall in love with one of their dresses. Their attitudes make me so angry I almost want to stand outside and picket! (almost)

Re: Bridal Couture of Manhasset Disaster (LONG)

I am sitting here reading all of this stuff and having a bit of a freak attack. I ordered my dress from there but I DID NOT work with Joan. I did see her in action and know that she was awful. The women I dealt with is Darlene and she was soooooo wonderful. She even emailed me to thank me for coming in and working with her etc. I love my dress and just hope I didn't make a mistake. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
