If you have ever been in a bridal party - did you not give a gift to the bride and groom?
Are the attendants supposed to give a gift or are they not expected to?

Yes-I have been in several bridal parties & always gave a rather large check in my envelope.

I know your supposed to, but it's just getting so expensive! I am in my friends wedding in July, and I have already spent about 500 bucks.... I don't really expect that my MOH and BM will give anything....

I have only been in a BP once, but I definitely gave a gift, and would if I was in a BP in the future. I know it stinks because you are spending so much money already just to be part of the wedding, but I do think its something that should be done.

IMO (hee) they should....i've never been in a BP...we're the first of all our friends to get married (that we knew before they were married) so there's been no chance...but i would have given a gift prior to planning my own wedding had i been in a wedding as a BM.

MOST DEFINITELY GIVE A GIFT! I've never even heard of a bridal party attendant not give one. I think that would hurt me the most actually... if my really good friend didn't give a gift (no matter how small or large) than as if a stranger didn't give a gift. Does that sound weird?

When I was 8 I was a FG for my aunt and uncle, I don't remember if I gave them anything but I'm sure my parents did.
When I was 16 I was the only BM for my bro/SIL's wedding upstate and I don't think I gave them anything. I didn't know anything about weddings then and I didn't have a job, so that's my excuse.
Knowing what I know now, if I'm ever in a BP again, I'll be more generous!!

Mee too, cause if I am in the BP then it means its one of my good friends gettign married, and I like being generous with my friends
