Bridal Shop wouldn't tell me the Designer of the Dress!

Ok I went to Paradise Bridal for my first time trying on wedding Dresses. Everything went good tried on a bunch of dresses. I found one I really liked but I didn't say yes cause I wanna shop around for a bit. But I called back because I wanted to know the dresses designer to see if I could find a picture or anything and they told me they could not tell me the dresses designer until I put a deposit on the dress!!?!?! This doesn't seem right I should be able to know the designer of the dress even if I am not buying the dress right!???

What do you think?

It scks..but it sounds about right. I havent had it happen to me. But the reason is more than likely so you buy it from them and dont try to find it anywhere cheaper.

Maybe you can search through the popular designer names and see if you can find it. Or describe the dress and try to enlist the help of the LIW girls.

I dont know every store i've gone too they've given me names and even style numbers to write down. Try fantasia in Rocky Point they're so nice there

I haven't started trying anything on yet but that would definitely piss me off. I would go back and try the dress on again and look for the designer yourself if they still won't tell you. Don't tell them you are you or they might try removing the designer's label. Or at the very least if they don't allow pictures sneak one of the dress while you're in the fitting room!!!

It could also be that the consultant doesn't know. A lot of stores code their dresses by number and the consultants don't have access to the information. It makes record keeping easier for the management/ownership.

I've heard this about Paradise Bridal....I believe they even code their dresses so when you have it on you can't even tell. Its a mean sales trick.

they should give it to you...but go back there and tell them you want to look at it...and then look at the tag it should say sumwhere on the dress!

one of my friends used to work in a bridal salon where they 'coded' the dresses so even the sales consultants didnt know....she later found out they also sold copies (knock-offs) of dresses, along with the original. it is to confuse the bride and to get a higher profit.

she soon left that bridal salon. i dont kno much about paradise bridal....but i know some designers also have certificates of authenticity. you may want to see if they can provide this to u, if you are paying $$$$

I experienced the same thing from a store in brooklyn. I felt like I was playing charades with the bridal consultant. She also stated to me that unless I ordered the dress they will not tell me the designer. So, I walked out because I feel you have a right to know who the designer is before you order.

Wow thats insane. You might be better off going to a place that actually tells you the designer to prevent this from happening.

what scumbags. go back.. try it on and get the name of the dress. look on the tag....then walk out say, THANK YOU.

if they didnt want to give u the name of the dress then u can obviously find it cheaper elsewhere.

go back, get your info. then bounce.

That's retarded. I went last week for my first time and for every dress i tried on the woman told me the designer and everything about the dress.

Honestly, I get what they are trying to do: make a sale.

HOWEVER, I think it's a really sketchy practice and I wouldn't buy my dress from a place that acted like that.

Yea I figured they were just trying to scam me! But I don't remember seeing a tag and they do go by the coded number thing so just be warned if you go to Paradise Bridal they are not so fair!! I'm definitely going somewhere else!

i know a lot of places do stuff like this. they don't tell you the designer & they don't let you take photos of the dresses. like other said they are trying to make a sale & especially with the internet, everything can be found at a better price
