Bridal Shop wouldn't tell me the Designer of the Dress!

Ok I went to Paradise Bridal for my first time trying on wedding Dresses. Everything went good tried on a bunch of dresses. I found one I really liked but I didn't say yes cause I wanna shop around for a bit. But I called back because I wanted to know the dresses designer to see if I could find a picture or anything and they told me they could not tell me the dresses designer until I put a deposit on the dress!!?!?! This doesn't seem right I should be able to know the designer of the dress even if I am not buying the dress right!???

What do you think?

I don't get how this makes sense for their business.
Is it really worth acting this way to gain a few more hundred per dress, when you are losing thousands by girls just walking out and not wanting to do business with you ?

That's a really good point.

I think (some!) businesses tend to view their consumers as robotic and dumb; as people who wouldn't even recognize the rationale behind such a practice. They just don't realize that a percentage of the consumers DO know what's happening; therefore, joke's on them (the business!)

That sux...when I went shopping for dresses, they gave me all the info on the dress. Honestly, I purchased a BM dress from paradise and I can say I didnt have a great experience so it's their loss. Doesn't make sense because they just ruined business for themselves!

they did the same thing to my friend that tried on dresses there.. They were like we dont know the designers until you put the order in then they fin d out.. Thats kinda annoying.. :(

I've heard of places that even cuts the label out so you can't see it. I'd go back try it again and sneak a pic with your phone if possible

yeah.. i'm sure the girls here will be able to help you out. and that's totally stupid of the shop. i can only imagine the business they are losing by doing all this coding the dresses.

I had a similar experience with Paradise Bridals. The woman gave me such a hard time when I asked for a style number. All I knew was the designer of the dress, so I found a picture of it on Bridal Reflections' website. I wanted to see if another shop carried it so I called Bridal Suite in Centereach and the while I was on the phone the girl looked at the dress on Bridal Reflections' website and was able to tell me that she carried the dress.

I agree with others...you should just go look at the dress to find out who made it and then search for a number online.

Oh my! I had a similar situation. However, not only did they not tell me what the designer was but they wanted to charge me 20% more just to order it new!! The price on the dress was the price of the dress I was wearing! I NEVER heard of such a thing. It was Carmela's bridal garden. I had heard such great things about it and then I went and they rip you off!!! I wound up going to Lillettes in Baldwin. They were really nice and told me the designer of my dress.

Hey Ladies! Just wanted to let you all know I found the dress after doing some research looking on other Bridal Shops websites. It's a Lazaro so at least it's not a knock off. Thanks for all the replies and good luck to everyone else with all you wedding planning!

Yep style # 3913 I'm not definite it's the one I still have 2 more appointments to go to but we'll see! But at east now I can refer to a picture.
