Bridal shopping alone?

Bridal shopping alone?

Anybody else in the same situation? I have been to a few places lately by myself. Unfortunately, my mother is gone, my sister is out of state and my bridesmaids are not the most dependable of people. I also never want to inconvenience people. I enjoy my time, I am independent by nature, but I can't help but get a little bit sad. Anyone else?

Peabody, I was going to say the same thing! But not for nothing, your BM's should make themselves available to do some of these things with you. What about your MOH?? That's part of her 'duites', besides I wouldn't want any of my friends, whether I was in her BP or not, dress shopping alone!

What is you relationship like with FMIL or other female relatives on FH's side? Maybe they would be happy to go with you as well. But you always have your LI Weddings friends too

I went to a showcase by myself once. No one 'could' come with me

Another lone bridal shopper here. Everyone else has crazy schedules where they work on weekends and stuff like that so I do it alone. I think it is kind of fun, but would prefer that my mom of MOH came with.

Re: Bridal shopping alone?

(the first time I went looking I did take my mom)
But, actually I found my dress, ALL BY MYSELF!! I went in, because it's right around the corner from my house and I always wanted to see what it looked like inside. the FIRST dress I pulled out WAS THE ONE...a month later I showed my mom and she confirmed it and ordered it!!!

You can go by yourself, but I needed the second opinion in the end.

Re: Bridal shopping alone?

When I first got engaged, I went to RK Bridal by myself b/c I really wasn't sure what kind of gown I wanted and just wanted to look around, not feel rushed and not waste anyone's time. Then, I brought my mom and sisters to Bridal Reflections, where I bought my gown.

Whatever you're shopping for- shoes, invites, dresses, etc. maybe if you do all the legwork, narrow down what you like, then ask your MOH to come with you to make the final decision?

Re: Bridal shopping alone?

I was the same way. My mom has passed away, MOH lives in NJ, and BM live in MD.

My father has remarried and his wife has done may things with me, but I did much of the wedding planning alone. Which maybe why I am not enjoying it as much as most brides. It is a bit lonely!!!

I went to several bridal stores by myself and in the end found my wedding dress when I was by myself.

Funny....when you are by yourself, friends and family of the other women who were trying on dresses, helped me and gave me their opinions. Two women, who I dont know, altimately helped me find my dress.

I'm getting married in two weeks, and I will be glad when all this wedding stuff is done with. But it is possible to plan a wedding by ones self. I will admit though it is a bit stressful. FM if you want to talk.

I did a lot of shoppin gmyself, and narrowed the dress to three dresses in one shop. I asked MOH, 2 BM to come look and we all agreed on the final
I loved my dress, and like you I didn't want to inconvenience people. My BP are all married with kids and it was just easier this way - less hassle

Me too--all by myself!!

All of my bridesmaids live out of town and so does my entire family. I have done so much wedding stuff by myself--It makes me sad :( I am pretty independent too, but still, I would rather be with my Mom or friend doing these things. I understand how you feel!!

I did a lot of stuff by myself and it did make me very sad at times. I would take your fellow brides offers to help. A lot of the ladies here helped me so much and it made a world of difference. You'll still have the best wedding, don't let it bring you down.

Re: Bridal shopping alone?

Thanks ladies for all the feedback. I am glad I am not the only one! A lot of good suggestions, but unfortunately FH's family is not an option. They are nice people but have little involvement in the wedding (their own choice). I think I really need to be more verbal with my friends when I need help! I always feel that it is an inconvenience and they would rather be elsewhere!! Maybe I am looking too much into it~

Wow! I felt like I was the ONLY one bridal shopping by myself! All members of my BM live out of town and my friends have crazy schedules. I feel much better now.

I'm with all of you! My Mom is gone and so is my dad. My MOH is in PA and my friends,,,,well, they are busy.

I'm independant too and do most of the stuff on my own but sometimes it can get sad.

I dragged my BM with me the first time and am lucky to have good friends, but somtimes I get sad for a lot of reasons. I love the planning, but it brings out all the issues too! Hang in there.

I did it quite a few times, I found it nice...there was less pressure and less opinions so it was a nice change of pace.

Re: Bridal shopping alone?

I don't think shopping alone for anything is a big deal. Of course it's much more fun to have company, but I decided a long time ago not to wait around for anyone! LOL besides, sometimes I take forever and it's better not to annoy anyone.
