Re: BRIDAL SHOWCASE...

I was there last night. It was actually one of the best showcases I have been to, on account of the free food and wine....

I won a free night at the Roslyn Clairmont. I am so excited - seems like I keep winning free hotel rooms (since I won won for TWOTY).

This is what ***** and I have been kicking myself all day about it :

They gave us 2 raffle tickets - and we won on both. The first thing we won was a hotel room, and then we won a free limo. FH swore he heard the guy say 'only one prize per couple', so we asked the guy sitting next to us to claim our prize for us. We actually said 'Can you get this for us'. So, when he got up to get the prize, we followed him out. As I'm leaving (the guy is 3 people in front of me and I am following him through the crowd), I hear someone call 'JOANNA' and this woman I have not seen in 10 years is there. So I tell FH 'babe, go after him'.... I talk to this lady for about a minute because I really want to get the limo coupon from this guy.

I see FH a minute later and he tells me he lost the guy in the crowd. We looked at all the booths, and literally couldn't find this guy. As we were leaving, we saw the guy with his envelope and he was like 'Thanks so much'. And I said 'oh, what did you win', and when I looked at it, I saw the voucher already had his name on it.

He totally misunderstood that we were asking him to get it for us - but I think it really was an honest misunderstanding. The whole thing happened really quickly. And I felt awkward being like 'no, this is OUR prize, you were supposed to get it for US', so FH and I were just kind of looking at eachother like 'what do we say?'

So, last night I was pissed, but today I can laugh about it. I won a free 4 hour limo at TWOTY, so it seems like I keep winning free rooms and limos. And I can't really complain because I met with alot of vendors, still got free food and wine, and won a hotel room with no strings attached. With the limo, I would have had to book that company for the whole event, and I know NOTHING about them.

Anyone else who went - what did you think? I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the food. Service was excellent, those busboys REALLY hauled butt all night.

That is crazy... I went last night. It was fun. There were more people there then I thought. But I didn't win anything :( The free wine and chocolate were great though!

We went too -- first time there to taste food -- and we were not overly impressed. Too bad, because the grounds are beautiful.

Was it just an off-day on the food? or was that their standard cocktail hour stuff?

Also -- one thing we decided (for wherever we decide to book) no more chocolate fountain. That thing is soooo messssyyY!!!! FH was upset he got chocolate on his white shirt

Re: BRIDAL SHOWCASE...

i liked all of the food except the seafood newberg... but thats bc i dont like fishy tasting stuff... someone sitting next to me despised the eggplant... lol i didnt try it so i cant comment on that.... i thought the beef stroganoff was awesome and hawaiian chicken is great too...

just an FYI to those that booked way back when, they changed the menu and arent offering as much as they did... also took off filet mignon.,.. spoke to them there and they said they would honor the old menu since thats what we booked with...

Re: BRIDAL SHOWCASE...

Okay I got there at 7 did the tour thing, coz they re-routed us and I totally didn't get a chance to eat anything. I would have done food first, but I tried to follow their way of trying to organize things. Next time I will be ready!! I tried their cakes....OMG it was delicious.

I really don't care not trying to food as I will be getting a lunch on them when I bring FH with me.

My brother tried the food and even said that it was not as good as the food he eats at the X-mas party he goes to every year there.

He said keep in mind that they are making tons of food for a lot of people, so they would probably not put a lot of effort into it. Also, a lot of those people aren't going to book for the Swan Club, they are just there for free food.

I do have to say unfortunately that I was so utterly mad when Mike just gave away the limo prizes coz he felt bad for those who were sitting in front of him....I was like hello!!! What about us who are standing coz there was no room to sit. I almost won, I missed it by one number. I was soooo upset!!!!

im surprised they made you do the tour thing -- unless you brought people who havent been there before? FH and I went to the place where the tour was started, but Mike suggested that we already saw the place, so we should just go in and register. Thank goodness. because it was packed and it was a long night. I dont think I couldve done the tour and then missed out on food - thats why we went. lol

Ummmm - aren't they SUPPOSED to be doing that?!?!?!

Just think -the amount of people there is comparable, if not less than, the amount of people they would have on a Saturday night with all 3 rooms booked. Having alot of people there really doesn't excuse the food quality.

Wow - I didn't know they changed the menu. Michael never mentioned it when we rebooked. FH and I have already finalized what we want to CH and dinner, and they had better honor it.

I found Michael very rude last night. I was talking with a limo vendor, and mid-sentence he just came up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek and was like 'how are you'. Then he started talking with her and almost COMPLETELY ignored FH and I. You know, the lady was in the middle of a possible sale, and he practically chased us away.

i dunno who michael is was this the guy standing by himself at the podium? even though i didnt win anything, i enjoyed myself and im still 100% in love with everything there we had asked a few questions while there and whoever was at the main desk that helped us was very nice... ive never had a bad experience with them... actually someone from there called me earlier today (i think the name was greg) but i couldnt talk so i asked him to call me back later... i hope i didnt hear bits and pieces and it was only a vendor
