Bridal Shower?

Bridal Shower?

Ok. So my family is on Long Island and FH's family is in Boston. So we actually are having two seperate (small backyard type) engagement parties to celebrate, one in Boston (which we had already) and one in Long Island (next month). My question is for the Bridal Shower what do I do? My mother is hosting it and wants it on Long Island since that's where my family is and she is planning/paying for the majority of it. So do I invite his relatives and friends from Boston? The wedding is in Long Island too? I am torn. I want to invite them but I don't want them to feel obligated to make the trip down twice, or to feel that I just want gifts.
But I want them to feel included and not left out.

Any suggestions??

If your mom is throwing it have it on Long Island and invite but explain to them that they are not obligated to go...thats what I would do!

I think the Bridal Shower is usually thrown by the MOB and it is completely reasonable for her to want to throw it on LI. If they don't want to come, they don't have to but - there is nothing wrong with inviting them to come.

Invite FH's family and let them decide if they want to attend the shower.

i would still invite them neway-i have family all over but they will still be invited for etiquette reasons. It's their choice if they come or not ( and they may even send a gift even if they don't come)

I would invite them. If they want to come, they will. If not, maybe they will still send a gift

i'm having the same issue- FH's family (and all but one of my BMS) is from upstate and my side is from LI. We are having our eparty at his parents so for the bridal shower we will either have it on LI, or we are considering having two, smaller ones for each side.

i would invite them anyway & if they show up then the one in Boston isnt necessary but make sure they understand that a shower will be held in the boston area at a later date as well.

i am in a similar situation. FH's mother's family lives in Texas so they will be invited to the LI bridal shower but it's not necessary per say that they have to come. i know that it's a hike for them to come to the wedding and the bridal shower. IMO i just think that would be too much. so inconclusion i would invite FH's family in Boston but the bridal shower will be in LI. in the long run it's really up to your mom.

Since the shower is ususally given by the MOB, its her right to throw it where she wants ... My mom did this for my sis and her FH family was in Westchester. My mom felt that since she was paying it was goign to be where she could afford it, so she held it in Queens and ivitied everyone. The people that couldnt come sent gifts, so it worked out for everyone.

i couldn't imagine anyone raising an eyebrow at having just a LI shower when the bride's family is here. i think people would expect that, and i think they'd also expect to be invited. you'll prob get a lot of nos and gifts in the mail.
