Hmph. I was under the impression that my mom was planning the bridal shower for me together with my bridesmaids.
Last night I spoke with her and she said that she changed her mind because she has no money and there would be too many people.
My bridesmaids are confused because they were waiting for a date from my mom and suggested that they look into other locations at restaurants, etc.
The problem is that FFIL is throwing us an engagement party in May and I feel that everything might be too close to together now.
Should I just call off the shower or plan it myself?

You dont want to start thinking that though because you may be set up for some real disappointment if thats not the case....

Re: Bridal Shower
honestly, i would probably go for the shower over the eparty especially if the party's being thrown in may and your wedding is in june, i think thats a little close and then to have a shower stuck in there as well puts people in a difficult financial position. can your bm's help your mom plan something small?

ITA - I wouldn't do both shower and eparty so close together and so close to the wedding.

Re: Bridal Shower
No my mom was being serious.
IF my BM's plan it then it would be in May and my engagement party is on May 22. Isnt that too close for everything?

I would honestly nix the eparty.......I would rather have a shower and get than an eparty personally.

Re: Bridal Shower
FFIL is really excited about throwing us the engagement party.
I guess I'm going to ax the shower plans.

Re: Bridal Shower
Why not ask your FFIL to maybe switch it more to the shower, or like the PP said, have a jack and jill type party, where it is celebrating your engagement as well as a shower...

Re: Bridal Shower
FH's mom passed away a few years ago and his dad wanted to do something that his mom would do for us.
So I cant change the engagement party.
