Hmph. I was under the impression that my mom was planning the bridal shower for me together with my bridesmaids.
Last night I spoke with her and she said that she changed her mind because she has no money and there would be too many people.
My bridesmaids are confused because they were waiting for a date from my mom and suggested that they look into other locations at restaurants, etc.
The problem is that FFIL is throwing us an engagement party in May and I feel that everything might be too close to together now.
Should I just call off the shower or plan it myself?

Re: Bridal Shower
If it was me, I would call it off. I only had an engagement party, didn't want a shower, and I had a ton of fun at my e-party. I wouldn't go through the stress of thwoing myself a shower..It depends though, like if you will die if you don't have a shower then have one. Maybe you could make a registry and include that with the e-party invites, that way if you need stuff for the house, people will get you stuff.

I know. I'm pretty sure the e party is supposed to happen right around when we got engaged which was about a year ago, but FFIL was so enthusatic and adorable I couldnt say no to him.

It sounds too stressful to do that, but I just wanted to celebrate with girls alone and do girly things. I dont really need anything for the home other than what we picked out on the registry.

Why not ask your FFIL to maybe switch it more to the shower, or like the PP said, have a jack and jill type party, where it is celebrating your engagement as well as a shower...
I think thats a great idea! Thanks
NP! That way you get to have your shower, and he is still totally involved in the planning and throwing of the party! Maybe even have your MOH reach out to him and tell him about it, so then he thinks he is coming up with the idea by himself Regardless, it is amazing that he would do that for you, no matter when it is going to be!

Re: Bridal Shower
And as for wanting just a girls thing, do something special for your bachelorette! And if you already have it planned, start the night off with a cocktail party at your moms for like an hour or so before you head out with the girls, that way she can feel involved as well! Just make some appetizers and get some drinks!
