IMO a bridal shower shouldnt be a huge event and theres no need for a venue or somewhr u have to pay a pp rate unless you plan to have a big glist.

Prob my maid/matron of honor will host my shower in either of their places, everyone bring a dish, chip in for some cute n cheap decoratons and their u go.. bridal shower done! Lol Thats how I would want it done.

ME TOO - this is EXACTLY what I told my MOH!

plus for a backyard, i might have to think about renting a tent which i haven't priced but i assume could be costly...plus chairs and tables

We had 65 people at our eparty and didnt use a major tent (people are still talking about it over a year later)- I find in LI alot of people have tents they use for block parties (I am sure you can borrow some) - its a shower - not a wedding. It is supposed to be about hanging with the ladies, having fun, opening presents and playing silly games.

We paid $500 to cater our party (the food is what people are talking about) and had left overs for everyone to take home. - split that between the girls and maybe add a few DIY decorations and you have a fantastic party on a low budget.

In my personal opinion - the best parties are the ones where you can see the 'love' put into them with little handmade details and thought - I always have a better time at that type of party over any other.

All the bridal showers I've been to, its been paid for by mother of the bride and bridal party. That makes the most sense IMO. No one person should have to take on the responsibility of planning and paying for the whole thing tho... Thats too much work!

i appreciate all the feedback girls...any ideas on how to re-approach this with the bride...i'm really afraid given how set in her decision she seemed to be and the lack of even suggesting the other bridesmaids be involved, that this may not be a pretty convo...but my family thinks i should speak to her about it now...i wanted to wait and see what the list looked like first...but my family said even if the list is smaller then expected, that's not something i should be expected to pay for all myself anyways...
