Bridal Shower and/or Bach Party?

Bridal Shower and/or Bach Party?

Hi Ladies,
I've never really been to many bridal showers or bach parties, so pardon my ignorance.

My MOH has been asking me what I want for a bachelorette party. I honestly have no idea. Initially I thought spa day but I don't want to suggest that because I think that can get pretty expensive.
Then recently I found out she has also been putting together my bridal shower (she's awesome!).

I'm not sure if this means there is another separate bachelorette party?
Her & I are in one city, my family (who I would DEF want there for both) are in another 8hrs away and FMIL is in another city (must fly).
I do not want to assume there will be bridal shower AND bach party. Honestly I thought there would not be a shower, so I'm happy and surprised there is one happening.

Anyway, my point is if there is both I would suggest just combining both to one event to my MOH. That way everyone can be there and only have to travel once for both.

My MOH is thinking of doing a brunch tea luncheon (Asian style!) which I think is so sweet and fantastic for the bridal shower.

I was thinking of suggesting to her another idea I have for a combo shower/bach party. But tallying up the total for everyone (11 adults plus 4-5kids) it's kinda much, IMO.

So I ask you, what is the average amount you have spent for bach parties in the past? What's a reasonable amount to ask?

Thanks!

There are typically 2 seperate events, the bridal shower AND the bach party.

The bridal shower is more formal and all the women in the family and female friends/family friends, bp are involved.

The bach party 99% of the time does NOT involve the older females in the family just b/c of everyone's comfort level. The Bach parties are typically known as your 'last night out' as a single girl. That doesn't necessarily mean strippers and stuff but when your going 'out' would you invite your aunts, grandmothers, mother along?

Typically, it's two separate events.

I know with my family, we usually have a shower and then go out to a bar with family/friends and have a mini-bach. party kinda thing. But that's just because they like to party.

Also, you don't want kids to come to the bach. party so it'd be difficult to have it as a joint event. Not unheard of, but difficult. Run it by your guests and your MOH and see what they say!

They are usually separate events, but I can see that if you would like some of your family members present at both it might be an idea to possible do the bridal shower luncheon and then later on that night you all can go our for the Bach Party.

i agree with previous poster that the Bach party isn't really a time for the 'older' crowd. It's usually your close GFs or maybe if you have cousins or other relatives that are close to your age bracket. It also depends entirely on what you want to do at your Bach party. If you are hittin up the strip clubs or if p enis straw are involved, I don't think I would want my mom or aunts there LOL. If you are doing a more low key event, like just going to a bar and having some drinks and dancing, you could possibly involve some older people if you wanted.

I am personally planning on having a Bach Party with my close GFs and then having a separate weekend trip away with my mom, aunts, SIL, cousins, and grandmas to AC or Mohegan and doing a spa weekend/gambling frenzy (they are all actually very excited for it).

Thanks Ladies!

Honestly, I'm a very low key kinda person. Bars and such are not my thing so that really would not be what we are doing. I'd rather do something like a girls night in, love the suggestion of a cooking class for the bach party. So it will be something that will be appropriate for kids and moms as well, in terms of the bachelorette party. I mean I know typically what a bach party IS. But that's not what I want. For me, it's more of a chance for everyone I care about to get together. :)
So I'm just as happy making it one event so that everyone can be there.

I have an idea what I do want but I fear it might be asking too much because I don't know what the norm $ amount is? And it will be mainly be my MOH and immediate family so I fear they will do it even if it's expensive because it'll be what I want. Make sense?

@ FutureJOC,
LOVE your idea. But unfortunately we don't all live close together. =( Vacation time is limited so trying to make everything in one weekend.

I don't think it would cost more to combine everything into 1 day. If anything it'll take the hassle away from people who would go to both and have to set aside 2 seperate days for them.
