No. 1: I was over at my FILs' house and my FMIL whips out my bridal shower invitation and shows it to me and FH. FH screams 'it's supposed to be a surprise~!' Indeed, written across the top of the invite is 'SSHHH, it's a surprise'. FMIL says 'oh, I didn't know who was being surprised.'
When she said that I had to laugh plus I was kinda excited that I was getting a shower but at the same time kind of bummed that the surprise was ruined.
No. 2: I couldn't help but look at the invite because when I saw the color of it, I told FMIL 'it's not mine, those are not my wedding colors.' But I looked at it and indeed it was for me. So I was really confused. My wedding colors are pink, brown and green. Everything from the invitations we made, to the programs, ring bearer pillow, CP, bouquets, BM dresses, etc. falls into my color scheme.
The bridal shower invites however, were dark red and gold and very simple.
I have 6 very artistic and creative BMs (think Martha Stewart) so I'm feeling a little bummed about the invites.
Don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED that they are throwing me a shower, truly I am, but I guess I wish I hadn't seen the invites beforehand.

Re: bridal shower (long vent- sorry)
Don't worry about it. The invites for my shower were very simple but the shower itself was phenomenal. Like the other ladies said, people just glance at invites most of the time anyway.
Sorry your surprise was ruined though. I was suspicious but it's not nice when people ruin it for others. Enjoy it anyway! You'll have a blast, believe me.

I'm sorry the surprise was ruined, but don't worry about the color scheme not matching. My wedding theme is interlocking hearts and my colors are burgundy and silver. At my shower everything was purple and lilac with green (and my sister knows I hate green) with butterflies - including the invites. It all looked so beautiful together I couldn't believe it!!!!

u shouldnt feel anything if the invites are not your color, thats a little too dramatic and bridezilla like
I totally agree. I can't believe you are even upset about this? I can understand the surprise being ruined but seriously, your shower invites don't match your color scheme? Small stuff. There are bigger things to be upset about in life. Worry about big stuff. You will be much happier. Just some advice.

when we did my cousin's shower - her invites didn't match her wedding colors, i dont think it is necessary honestly since it is two different people planning the events. ..
as for the surprise - i am so sorry that happened to you but i had to laugh when she didnt know who the surprise was for. . .i mean who else could it have been a surprise for??? the guests??
some people. . ..
but seriously i am really sorry - try not to let it ruin this exciting time though!!
I agree with this. We threw my friends bridal shower, and I don't think we matched her colors to her wedding colors.
As for the surprise, focus on the happiness of everyone joining to celebrate with you, and knowing that you can look cute for all your pictures!!!!
