I need help. My friend is getting married for 2nd time. She owns a home with her fiancé, they really don't need anything so there is no registry. How do I let the bridal shower guests know that big gifts aren't necessary and that a small meaningful token would be appreciated. Not mentioning anything would imply she wants cash which she doesn't. Help! Please !

what about asking her to do a honeymoon registry instead? if any registry at all is off the table, say something like 'no gifts please. your presence is the only present we need' or something like that

I'm the MOH I'm my friends wedding and she lives with her fh and they do not have a registry. She did a honeymoon registry so I am putting that in the invitation. We are also having a date themed party and asking everyone to bring something for them to use on a date night. I included some examples like gift cards to restaurants, ingredients to make a specific meal, movie tickets, things like that. So far everyone has liked the idea. A friend of mine had a shower recently with no registry and she had a stock the bar party and the invitation asked everyone to bring some sort of alcohol.

I went to a baby shower once and the invite said something about gift cards and no registry. I forget exactly how it was worded but she wound up getting a ton of gcards from places like best buy, target, amazon, some spa places (and of course baby places). You could put something like, the bride and groom are not registered but........ Fill in the blank. There's gotta be a way of asking for other gifts without sounding tacky. I've seen the stock the bar invites on etsy. Maybe browse there for some invite/wording ideas.

A friend of mine didn't do a registry but the invitation to the shower asked that gifts be something the couple could 'experience' together, so similar to the date night. They also put on the invite that guests were welcome to call the bride's mother, who hosted the shower for ideas. People bought them couples massages, restaurant give cards, museum tickets, ticketmaster giftcads, movie theater giftcards, giftcards to places you canpaint ceramics etc.
