I've been in many weddings and the bridal party threw the shower.. But now that my shower is coming up my some of my girls are complaining.
My mom threw our engagement party so I really don't feel right having her throw another 'party'.
I don't know the 'rule' or if there is any.

Re: Bridal Shower Question
its soo nice if the bp throws the bride her shower but ive never seen that happen. granted ive only been to a few so i really cant say much. but typically the mother throws the shower.
thats why i didnt have an eparty. for my mom to throw me an eparty, and a shower and half wedding(im paying more than half actually.anyway) its too much. i also felt its too much to ask from guests to spend $$ 3 times just cu zim getting married lol. o yea. my bro got engaged a few days after me and his wedding is this friday.. so it wouldve been to hectic anyway.
ok sorry im rambling.
u can have a reallllllly nice inexpensive shower if u research a lot. so dont worry. maybe u can bring it up to ur moh...see what she says??

Re: Bridal Shower Question
all the showers i have ever been to the mom has thrown.
my mom told me that when she got married the MOH and bridesmaids used to take care of the shower, however my mom didn't get married until she was 28 so her MOH and bridesmaids where all full time employees for years before. my sister (MOH) is only 21 & is in nursing school so there is no way she could afford to throw me a shower by herself. so in my situation, my mom is throwing the shower & will just ask for some extra helping hands from the bridal party.

Re: Bridal Shower Question
usually the mother or bridesmaid throw the bridal shower but now days you see brides involved too. In this case my mother is throwing me my shower I am guessing the girls will kind of help! i have no clue

Re: Bridal Shower Question
I have had it both ways. Most people I know the mother paid for the shower and the bridal party helped out. I have been in a wedding where the mother didn't help at all and it was just up to the bridal party to pay for everything. It really depends no the circumstances. I dont think there is any protocol for it.

Re: Bridal Shower Question
It used to be that the BP would pay and throw the shower, now it can be anyone your mother, the BP, pretty much anyone that wants to throw it.
I had drama going on with my shower, so my FH is actually the one throwing it for me

Re: Bridal Shower Question
I'm in a wedding this coming October and for her Shower her mother had it at Lombardi's on the Sound and the BP paid for the decorations (we each gave $70 - which the MOH didn't all use, so she held onto the extra $$ and we are using that towards the bachelorette party).

Re: Bridal Shower Question
Ettiquite says that the MOB isn't supposed to throw the shower. It's either supposed to be the MOH alone or the MOH and BM's.
I think a combination of the 3 is good.

Re: Bridal Shower Question
I am speaking from limited experience here but, I think it depends on the BP and mother and what they want/can do.

Re: Bridal Shower Question
I don't know what the rule is, but for FH's sister's shower, her mom paid. For my sister's, her other MOH, her FMIL and I threw it (and paid). For mine, my sister is keeping it a surprise, but my 2 MOH's and BM's are paying for it.
