While my bridal shower is a long ways off a few questions came up as I was talking to my mom and my MOH.
1 - Where should we have it and who pays?
My FH's side is all in Suffolk County out by Ronkonkoma and my friend and family are all in Queens, NYC, NJ and Bklyn.
2 - What the hell will we register for?
FH an I individually have our own places and we already have lots of stuff that we would've had to register for. Not to mention once I sell my place and move out there we'll be cramped with a lot of stuff even with me getting rid of some stuff. I don't want to add more.
3 - If we really don't register for anything could we just do a wishing well and tactfully ask them to give us in cash what they would've spent on a gift?
Sorry if sounds a little tasteless but I'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance for the help ladies

Hi, Kathy!! I probably won't be much help; We're from Lancaster Co.,Pa. We're having a beach themed tea party shower. Debi is planning and I'm paying. I think the BM's are suppose to help, but I know no one has $, so I'll pay. Deb and Fred each have their own apts., so they don't need a lot of stuff either, but when Debi was asked where they're registered, before their engagement party in Long Island, she decided to register at Target and Linens N Things. They're registered at a travel agency, for their honeymoon. Mary MOB

Re: Bridal Shower Question/Advice Needed
what about registering for ur honeymoon instead. I know a lot of people that have done this. People actually gave money or put money towards ur honeymoon.

Re: Bridal Shower Question/Advice Needed
my mom and sister and 2 bms are planning it and paying for it. the 3 other bms are oos.
I would suggest that mom call FMIL. My mom has waited too long and I think FMIL is a little hurt.
Anyplace ud really love to have it? You can drop a suggestion or 2....
Register for whatever you feel u might need or want new for your place together! If not, do a honeymoon registry/ ONCe you set that up have mom (or whoever sends the invites out) note it in the invites the same way u note registry in the invites...she should also write wishing well too...

MAYBE HAVE it in nassau county...theres no set rules who has to pay...sometimes its the MOB, sometimes its bridal party chipping in and sometimes its MOB and bridal party together
The whole what to register for thing...well theres always new and updated things to buy. You might have things but theres nothing wrong with getting new sheets, new comforters...after time glasses break and other items get worn out so why not get new things and leave the old stuff behind when you move. PLUS theres tons of items to register for that you might not have...There are so many kitchen gadgets out there now, that not every average home has, and then even with the typical ones why not get a new coffee maker and other stuff. I really would NOT ask for money, youre not supposed to

Re: Bridal Shower Question/Advice Needed
my bms are throwing it and paying for it. i have no clue where they are having it or when. they wont tell me anything.
you can register for items to upgrade on your current one. you can register at BBB and get cash back. or you can register for a honeymoon registry instead.

Re: Bridal Shower Question/Advice Needed
I hadn't even thought of regisering for the honeymoon.
Good ideas keep them coming
I was thinking Nassau for the shower also...I love this place called Peppercorn's in HIcksville and they have a spce that they used for these occasions....I'll drop a hint to them. As for paying i have a feeling I'll be paying for a good portion of it.
