sure, why not, they can wear whatever you want. plus black wears well on everyone and can be worn again at any time of the year. you can always use bright 'spring' colors in other things like your flowers, invitations, centerpieces. or maybe choose a colorful or sparkly shoe to go with the black.
Why not you can always add some color with a sash or flowers. An there is the added bonus of wearing it again.

I feel that you shouldn't use black dresses, because you will wear white and it would look very school-girl if you would use combination of white and black, also white and black are two opposite colors one is innocent and other is more devil like, cold....for a wedding maybe you should use warmer colors. I agree that it looks very elegant. This is only my opinion, so dint get mad at me....
