BRIDES BEWARE OF FAILED UPLIGHTING AT BOURNE MANSION

I recently attended a wedding at the Bourne mansion where the mansion was lit up. I went over to the bride and asked her who did this lighting for her wedding. She gave me the face and rolled her eyes at me. She told me she wanted to hire an outside company to come in and do all the lighting for her and she was bullied by the Banquet team at the mansion into using there 'CRAP' she used the words. The bride said she paid 800 dollars for something that looked like a fisher price lights that didn't even work. Half of the lights were broken and didn't even make it up half way up the wall. Needless to say they couldn't even match her color theme of the night.
I asked her why didn't you just have your lighting company come in anyways, she responded to me that either ME or my Lighting company would have to pay the mansion money to use there lighting. I was confused cause I was having a company come in that only use wireless so they would use anything inside there building. The bride looked at me and said I know….

I don't know what I should do cause if I can't bring outside people in is it worth having my wedding ruined cause the amnion only cares about the money and not the needs of the bride and groom……..
PLEASE HELP>>>>>>>>>>>

You can do whatever you want. YOU are paying for the service and will do it however you want. don't let the venue tell you any different.

I looked there but they didn't say they had their own uplighting. Some venues have specific rules about the vendors and who is allowed to be used (Royalton, for example, charges the bride and groom a fee if the house vendors are not used - I think it was $500), so I have to disagree with Cets1920 that you can do what you want and the venue has to just go along with it.

You absolutely need to call the Bourne and ask them what the policy is regarding the uplighting - can you bring in your own company at no charge, or do you have to use theirs.

I've just never heard of a venue not allowing an uplighting vendor to come in. It's not like a DJ or photog or something that isn't a preferred vendor though them, it's much smaller compared to those. I just got married and found that venues will allow most anything and anyone into the venue as long as the appropriate insurance paperwork is provided for the vendor

This place is ran by a drill sergeant of a guy. He doesn't care about the needs of the couple. Only to make a quick buck to put in his pocket. This is the only lessing hall that has someone so nasty to staff as well as the B & G on there wedding night. My friend was super disappointed on the end result of this gentleman.

There rule was not to bring in any power Leds due to an old building policy. So she said its ok cause the company I'm looking to hire is all wireless. He said you have to pay $500 for me not to use my lights.

This sounds to me like bullying and thats not cool when your spending so much on your special day.

Bourne Mansion is an old venue, nice outside but aesthetically an old building. I am not surprised at them charging for extras. That us really weird that a Lessing venue has such a rude person.

I agree that MOST venues will allow it - but some DO NOT, as per why I gave a specific venue that will actually charge the bride and groom if they do not use a house vendor. I do not agree with that policy, but venues can make their own rules.

I had my wedding at the Borune Mansion in Nov of 2013. I had my dj companay (outside vendor) use their wireless uplighting and I used the Bournes for my cocktail and dessert hour. They charged me 1/2 price (450) to use theirs for cocktail and dessert tables. I have to agree that I was annoyed at this as well - but I let the battle go as it was very early in my planning. Also I was so addiment about having my DJ light the room with there wireless lights that I felt the forced cost was worth it. Have to choose your battles. They have a great name for themselevs and run a wonderful wedding. Although they may seem a bit crude they honetsly know what they are doing and wedding will be one in a million if you are having it there. Dont let this discourgae you.
