I agree with the other girls.. you really need to talk to your doctor. You might even need to try a few different ones before you find one that works for you. I have been on BC for many years, probably about 10 different ones over the years. I've been on Mircette for the last 3 or so and I love it.

Go to your gyno and discuss it with him/her. You want to make sure you want to get the right one. There are so many out there that have side effects! It took me a while to find the excat one! So don't feel so bad!

you definitely have to try out different brands... some of the brands my friends used were great for them, but it made me a crazy woman!
The best might be a BC with low dosages. I haven't tried it myself, but I know they have BC that lets you only have your . once every 3months.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
It's all trial and error. What is good for me might not be good for you. So many girls have said so far that Ortho-Lo and Yaz/Yasmin are good, but Ortho-Lo gave me the worst cramps I ever had in my life and Yasmin made me a crazy person. I'm on Loestrin now, which has caused lots of weight gain (bloat around my stomach) and no sex drive, but my skin is really clear and my periods are light and pain-free. It's not perfect, and I still had to go through 3 pills to find it (and you have to try each one for 6 months because your symptoms will decrease as you're on it for a while).
If you want to be on the Pill, it's a cr*pshoot: try one for 6 months and see how it goes. If it's good, keep it. If not, try another one.

BC and its effects are VERY personal to the user. One girl's experience with one can be the extreme opposite of another's. I can bet that for every girl on here who swears by one brand, there will be another who says that it was a complete nightmare. Its really best if you talk about it with your gyn so they can prescribe what fits you best considering your criteria and your own body and how it already works. good luck!
yea - i totally agree. i WILL say that I'm on Yasmine (NOT yaz) and i absolutely LOVE it. I've had no problems with it so far and i've been on it just over a year. I told my gyn what i wanted & didn't want and yasmine was her advice...so i guess she was right!

I would definitely talk to you Gyn. about which kind - but I have been on ortho tri-cyclen forever and I was able to plan my wedding around my . If you are really concerned I would go on it, and just talk to the doc about which one is good for you - eveyone's body reacts differently to each pill.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I use Nuvaring with minimal side effects. They were the worst for the first few months- now I hardly remember its there.
ETA: I was due to get AF on my wedding day- I just put in a new ring to stop it from coming (I checked with my dr. to make sure this was ok) When I got my period the following month it was a little heavier than normal and I had major PMS- but it was fine after that.
ETA (again)- I have tried the pill before but I'm really bad when it comes to remembering to take things. Plus it made me feel sick.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I am on Yaz and last May I went on a cruise. I was getting my period one day into the cruise, so I decided to try to skip my period by just keep taking the pills, and not take the white ones. BIG mistake!!! I ended up getting my period for the ENTIRE trip and then for the rest of the month! I don't know what I did wrong, if anything, but it was horrible!!! If you do plan to try to skip your period, I would do a trial before the wedding day because trust me, you DON'T want to end up like me! I will note that I did call my Dr. before doing this and she gave me the okay. She said that it is totally fine to do and usually works, but you should not skip your period every month...just for special occassions. I am not sure why it backfired on me!

Def. speak to your gyno about what you are thinking. On another note, my gyno told me to get off the pill come March if I plan on having babies right after the wedding because I've been on the pill for so long and to start taking pre-natal vitimans

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I have been on Mircette (Kariva is the generic brand) forever, and it is great, it's low hormones. No weight gain, no extra moodiness etc. But again, it's diff for everyone. However I would highly recommend it.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I have never been a fan of birth control...tried it on 4 different occasions and thought I was going crazy! My boyfriends at the time said 'go off of it immediately'!
Now with the wedding 5 months away...I cannot chance having my friend on my wedding day or honeymoon. My friend comes with bad cramps and the flow lasts for dayyyyyys. So I decided to give it a try and am doing it now so my hormones have time to level out. My dr prescribed loestrin...the one where u only get your friend for like 2-3 days. So far I am on the second pack and feel great! First pack I had headaches for 7 days and felt over-emotional and a bit moody. But I promised myself I could get thru it and kept a positive outlook!!! So far so good!
Also I have also tried nuva ring and made me very moody. Ex-bf was a bit weirded out by it. After 4 months I started having irregular bleeding and dr said to take it out immediately because it was irritating my cervix. Ok TMI!

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
im on ortho tri cyclen...and have been for years, so far so good..i was on the lo but it made me have breakout bleeding for really long so they gave me the regular ortho tri cyclen because they figured my body needed a higher dosage and not the lo one.......so it depends on the body...BC pills are different for every women when it comes to the side effects

Im on orto tri cyclen but i dont even try that whole skipping the pillls to avoid the period because everytime i do that..it backfireson me also, ill have breakthrough bleeding for a few days...then a whole period for like 2 weeks! so i dont even bother, if im gonna get myperiod , im gonna get it lol...it would really suck to have it on the wedding day...but theres really nothing i can do to prevent t. just hope i dont get it lol
