Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I went on the one I had been on previously for the wedding. I think Yasmine. I don't really remember. I had told my Gyn that I was on it before & she prescribed it.
It worked. I started half a year before, though. I think I notice weight loss when I go on (but I was also dieting like a mad-woman).

I am on Yaz and last May I went on a cruise. I was getting my period one day into the cruise, so I decided to try to skip my period by just keep taking the pills, and not take the white ones. BIG mistake!!! I ended up getting my period for the ENTIRE trip and then for the rest of the month! I don't know what I did wrong, if anything, but it was horrible!!! If you do plan to try to skip your period, I would do a trial before the wedding day because trust me, you DON'T want to end up like me! I will note that I did call my Dr. before doing this and she gave me the okay. She said that it is totally fine to do and usually works, but you should not skip your period every month...just for special occassions. I am not sure why it backfired on me!
aww lol--- thats crazy i would be so upset-- well im sure after that was done and over with you and fh had some making up to do lolll

I have never been a fan of birth control...tried it on 4 different occasions and thought I was going crazy! My boyfriends at the time said 'go off of it immediately'!
Now with the wedding 5 months away...I cannot chance having my friend on my wedding day or honeymoon. My friend comes with bad cramps and the flow lasts for dayyyyyys. So I decided to give it a try and am doing it now so my hormones have time to level out. My dr prescribed loestrin...the one where u only get your friend for like 2-3 days. So far I am on the second pack and feel great! First pack I had headaches for 7 days and felt over-emotional and a bit moody. But I promised myself I could get thru it and kept a positive outlook!!! So far so good!
Also I have also tried nuva ring and made me very moody. Ex-bf was a bit weirded out by it. After 4 months I started having irregular bleeding and dr said to take it out immediately because it was irritating my cervix. Ok TMI!
i have a personal dumb question-- can the guy feel the ring?

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
Be careful just listening to your doctor. I use to be a pharmaceutical rep and I can assure you that a doctor often suggests meds based on reps(ie the ones they like, the last one to walk through the door, the one who bought lunch)...not on ur individual needs. Knowing this and having some research done I always am prepared with a slew of questions regardless of the type of med...from BC to a simply anitbiotic. That said it is true that it may take multiple trys to find a BC right for you. All I can suggest is a very low estrogen BC. I had been taking desogen for over ten yrs w/ zero side effects. I recently switched to loestrin24 because it is sampled and it is good too. Good luck!

Hey! I've take a few different kinds of BC and just like everyone has said on here teh pills affect everyone differently.
Ortho Cyclen - Hated it.
Ortho Tri Cyclen - Good.
Loestrin - currently on. love it. no side effect.
ive never gained weight on any of the pills.
as for ur last question, if u get ur period and u wake up and take a pill it wont automatically just stop. talk to ur gyn and they will explain it better.

The Nuva Ring is the best. I started using it and it is comfortable and easy to use.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I'm going to stay off of bc for as long as I can - no issue before our 1st wedding but I am a little scared to be preggers for the second one LOL We don't want to have kids for a couple years but I guess we'll see what happens using other precautions!
Hope you find something that works for you!

The pills are great! like orthotricyclin but you have to remember to take it the same time every day. I think I heard that patch is associated with an increased risk of clots that could cause a stroke, but don't quote me on that. With the pill, you can not take the last week of the pack (those are the sugar pills), and start a new pack instead and that will skip your . I've also heard good things about the ring, but I've also heard sometimes it can be uncomfortable. Tough decision.

Although it definitely depends on the user, I would recommend mine, which is the Nuvaring. You absolutely can use BC to change your period, but you should definitely consult your GYN on how to do that. I would say do it about 3-6 months in advance depending on when you get yours.

You mean, besides a chastity belt?
Definitely talk to your gyn, but probably something low dose would be best. Nuvaring is a low dose BC and very easy to use...but to each her own!

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
I am a former ring user and would never use it, and considered sewing the co.
1. Yes he can feel the ring, my fh would get almost a rash like effect on the head depending on the size of fh, excuse me if this is too much but he will rub up against it. I just want to make sure you knew.
2. It comes out, and you may not feel it come out. You have to be extremely careful with the ring.
I am on Yazmin now, and I highly recommend it. My pd lasts for one day and its very light.

Im on loestrin...and I LOVE IT!!!! I would recommend it to anyone. I didnt gain much weight...maybe 1-2 lbs, and I really dont have a . anymore. Its like 1-2 days. I dont get cranky, bloated, never get a headache or cramps. I call them my magic pills...lol You should try it, but like someone else said everybody reacts differently to different pills
