Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
BC and its effects are VERY personal to the user. One girl's experience with one can be the extreme opposite of another's. I can bet that for every girl on here who swears by one brand, there will be another who says that it was a complete nightmare. Its really best if you talk about it with your gyn so they can prescribe what fits you best considering your criteria and your own body and how it already works. good luck!

I agree that your best bet is probably to talk to your doc so he or she can prescribe the type that's best for you. I haven't had any probs with ortho-tricyclin lo, but of course I can't say that it would work the same for everyone. Good luck!

ETA: Totally forgot to add what i'm on, i was on ortho tri-cyclen lo for years. Loved it. Then my insurance co-pay went way up for it so I had to go generic. Turns out there is no generic for the 'lo' so I switched to regular ortho tri-cyclen, generic. I find that regular ortho (not the lo) makes me crankier and crushed my libido. But I have no choice since it's all I can afford right now. I also tried Yaz for awhile but it turned me into an emotional lunatic. They've all made me gain weight.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
im confused, are you saying you want to go on BC just to skip your period for your wedding day? thats kind of a big decision for just one day, IMO. Now if its something you are planning because you and your FH aren't planning on starting a family soon and all of that, thats a different story.
i have been on loestrin24fe for a year now and after the initial adjustment, its fantastic!! i barely even get anything. sorry TMI.

You definitely need to talk to your DR. It is true that every pill will effect each girl differently.

I love ortho tricyclen lo. I had a bad reaction to YAZ -- didn't get my period at all and had horrible mood swings. It really, really is different for everyone.

Re: Brides-- birth control question-for the wedding
Totally agree with missliss - talk to your gyn.
I''m not on bp currently but I was on Ortho Cyclen Lo - no complaints other than decreased sex drive. I''m off now because i couldn't deal with that and frankly, it all just scares me.
.My bf took Yaz and she liked it - gained 1-2 cup sizes but no other weight gain.
so, yeah, I think it's a totally personal thing that is best to talk about with your doctor.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do as I get closer to the weddng - just monitor my cycles and maybe get bp a few months in advance just so that I don't have to deal with my period during my wedding and honeymoon.

Like some of the other girls said, they all have different effects on everyone. Ortho Lo made me a crazy woman. Yaz is the mildest on me. They all suck though, i hate BC
